Summary:

Navarre is hosting a gala to celebrate the success of her campaign, and she intends to offer her services to the government to further her hateful agenda. She wants this night to be her glorious ascension, so everything must go perfectly.

It will take place at the university’s auditorium and dining hall. The only thing I’m changing from the Marn Restoration newsletter is that it starts early in the evening as opposed to late afternoon. Influential characters of nobility or influence can assume they have received invitations. Characters that are average citizens will have to pay 10 bishani to enter.

My plan is to most likely separate this into two concurrent threads. This will hopefully keep the plot moving at a decent pace, and it will allow us to cover more content. Exactly how they will be separated has yet to be determined, but I think it will most likely be based on alignment (Paragon/Govt) or location.

Please post here if you’re interested, and feel free to share any ideas! I hope to get this off the ground soon.

Other Notes:

This post will be edited once I know for sure who will be involved and how I will run the event.

Ree will attend. I would appreciate it if it could be the day (or two) after the 'Doctor is in' thread as I have a segue planned before she arrives.

Guile will attend along with his wife, Hermipises.

Azuel will be attending by invitation in place of his father, Maalik, the current City Comptroller.

Here's some updates to the wiki that Ree has done to help understand the social influence working in Marn!

First Settlers and their descendants are top dogs.
Synevives and their descendants are right below.
Titre are next and a few rungs below the synevives, though of course being street scum isn't likely to get you respect, but it might help said street scum with bigotry against those not born in Marn.
Official Citizens sit at the bottom of the totem pole and will have to struggle to get to a higher place.

Everyone else is pretty much dirt. Good luck getting anywhere!

I'd like for Fathia's parents to attend the gala. Her father is the type to strive for becoming an official citizen, so this would be the perfect event for him to meet other citizens. They'll be the oddballs that show up in really simple clothes and look completely out of place.

Since we can have more than one thread with characters at once now... Ardys would like very much to attend, being that it is a ball full of wealthy people and fancy clothes and therefore all the gossip and rumors she could desire.

I think I'd also like Jacel to attend, ideally in the thread Azuel is not.

I'd also like to put the possibility of a free posting order on the table. It's been working pretty well for Yiamas so far and is probably worth considering here.

Is it too late for Talia to join? She has a decent amount of savings since she works a lot and gets free board with her job.

Her reasoning for going would be to try and find her puradyne grandparents (I am not planning on her ever finding out who they really are but a girl has gotta try and find her family!). She doesn't know who they are only that the ruby she has was from her mother who got it from the family so perhaps they will recognize it. Not only that but she deserves a bit of a break from her job since she had been working practically non-stop for the past 3 years.

I already talked with Nav about some Guard members acting as security for the event, so I will have Sebastian attend for that reason. I also plan to NC his sister who will insist on teasing him for being the only Synevive to be 'slumming it' by working at a party.

Shanuri would be happy to supply some entertainment and murderous plotting!

Excellent! The introductory post will be going up tomorrow. As a reminder, we will likely be branching off into separate threads due to the number of people involved in this plot.

UPDATE: Since some of you have threads you want to finish, I'm gonna hold off on posting the introduction for a bit. Just give me a holler once everything is ready and I'll proceed.

I'm thinking that Soneya's parents might want to attend to try and climb the social ladder again after their downfall what with having a magic user in their family (the grandfather).

If more guards are needed for security purposes, Sisara should be available after the Yiamas fiasco.

If I ever manage to get a proper bio up for Haneul (Paragon) before the gala takes place or at a decent moment smacked up in the middle, then I might be up for throwing her in too if that is a better solution than the above options (I don't mind tripling either).
