(Hello this is my first character here. I gladly welcome criticism on how to improve my character if you see any flaws please point them. I'm especially worried that I might have overpowered my character and that his magic abilities may not be realistic.)

Name: Dulark Eldmund

Occupation: Mercenary

Race: Human

Age: 28

Height: 5'11

Weight: 210

Hair: Brown

Eyes: Brown

Overview: Dulark is a quite and serious man around those he first meets. When among friends however he is quite cheerful and easy to laugh. The most important thing about him in his mind is that he worships a long forgotten God whom he believes to be above all other gods and that they are in fact frauds. He would not announce his faith to all those who he encounters so as not to be branded a lunatic or hurt, (he considers himself a coward for this reason) but if the opportunity presents itself he would gladly try to save another soul.

Appearance:Image Dulark is a slightly built man with a darker brown eyes and hair curved slightly to the left in order to keep it out of his eyes. He is commonly wearing his white cloak which purposely covers the words Gloria in excelsis Deo (glory to god in the highest) over the top of his chest and under that is the word Domino (Lord) written in a circle. However it is very noticeable that he carries a sword as he makes no attempt to hide the bulge in his cloak. He does not want many people to look at his face so he covers it up with his cloaks hood. If his cloak is removed it can be clearly seen that he is in chain mail armor and has a dagger in his boot as well as on his belt. His white tunic which comes down to his knees has no sleeves which allows the mail on his arms to be seen very clearly. It displays a number of words on the chest area. He has no leg armor just simply brown trousers supported by a black leather belt. His boots are also a black leather but toughened and hardened to withstand much punishment.

Personality: Dulark suffers from extreme hatred of himself. He sees himself as worthless and evil for not having enough courage to try and save every one he meets. But he knows that he could in fact gain more followers for his God by living long and safely and secretly converting those he believes can be converted. The reason why Dulark does not openly try to convert people is because he would be labeled a nut and if he tried to prove his lords existence through clerical magic then he would most probably be punished severely or killed. For he has not told anyone outside a select few that he has magic. Or at least what they would consider magic. His reasoning behind this is that he does not want to be forbidden from doing his duties and since it so late in his life he doesn't know what the city would do to him if he confessed. But aside from his mind being messed up and distracted by inner turmoil he tries to be polite and nice to everyone he meets. Not friendly. But with what he considers common dignity. However manners do not mask his quite and dark attitude. He could kill without a moments hesitation and does not allow many people to get close to him often responding with short and cold sentences. However that does not apply to his friends he will warmly greet them and act like quite a different person around them cheerful and fun in fact. But he is very rarely near a friend for purely social reasons.

Obsessions: He obsesses over hunting certain things things he considers heresy. Such as any form of clerical magic. He considers it unholy even though they claim to be doing it the name of a good god. For he believes that they have been deceived by a very clever enemy who seeks to completely destroy his faith. He also equally hates such abominations as vampires. The one thing he hates more than both of those are summoners who summon demons and the demons themselves. If given the opportunity he would gladly slay any of these people or things. With the exception of a cleric he believes might convert. After all they have been deceived in his mind.

Strengths:

Strength: Dulark is quite a bit stronger than the average man due to his near constant training. He is not ridiculously strong but he is able to swing his long sword as if it were a dagger.

Magic: Dulark would not consider what he does to be magic. He considers himself a lowly sinner blessed by a higher power. Dulark can only do a few things with his "magic" at will.

Healing: Dulark can heal others and himself quite efficiently. However it drains his energy considerably the more healing he has to do. He accomplishes healing through firm belief in the fact that his subject was made in the image of his God and that there body and his God want to return that way. He finds it far easier to heal himself than others which gives him the slightest ability of regeneration. He could not regrow a limb ( but he could put the old one back on and while expending nearly all of his energy it would reattach and work again in around three days ) or lost head if it was severed but due to his unwavering faith in the fact that he is protected to a degree from physical harm at all times he would survive a fatal blow against one of his vital organs or a vein for they would scab and heal quickly. Yet depending upon the injury he could be in no shape to fight after healing if for example his head was bashed by a mace and his skull was severely damaged. In order for him to survive that he would have to use all of his energy on repairing himself. However if a thin blade were to pierce his heart like an arrow or knife he could pull it out and heal with only slight difficulty. the unique part about this ability is that he does not need to be conscious for this to work. He only needs his head on his shoulders.

Light: Dulark can create a ball or whatever shape he wanted of light. He can with ease illuminate a twenty by twenty foot area for at least a half hour. It would cost him a noticeable chunk of his energy but he could summon a bright flash of light to blind his enemies. He believes that this light comes from an understanding of his Lord's brilliant love for him. Or at least as much understanding as he can comprehend.

Telekinesis: The last of his abilities is to enhance his physical prows significantly by using a form of telekinesis. It would cost him a lot and nearly kill him to enhance himself for an entire ten minutes. So that is why he normally only uses it for a surprise boost in power or in order to make a large jump or basically anything of that nature. He activates this ability by forgetting his inner turmoil for a while and summons within him the feelings of necessity and moral righteousness.

Sword Play: Dulark is a very capable swordsmen and dagger wielder. He spends much of his time training and trying to perfect his skill with a blade. He is a little young but still quite skilled.

Weaknesses:

Mentality: Dulark hates himself considering himself worthless he is often distracted from the real world. Dulark considering himself very lowly of a human being often does not do a lot to defend himself unless he needs to. Insults and slight violence against him are things he almost welcomes. He is literally a huge push over not arguing his points or opinions except on very rare occasions.

Obsession: Due to his narrow minded view on certain things he would hardly ever accept help from someone he considers an enemy of his religion regardless of what kind of trouble he might be in.

Cold: Dulark can come off as unfeeling and unwelcoming almost always around strangers. Needles to say he makes horrible first impressions.

Anger: Dulark does not get angry very often but he is very sensitive about his God and can easily be goaded into doing something rash and stupid when some one mocks his God.

Unlisted Magic: Dulark willingly did not list himself as a magic user which he was required to do by law. His powers are not very harmeful but the fact that he didn't list himself would be enough to get him into trouble if the authorities got wind of his abilities.

Lack of money control: Being that Dulark makes a living as a mercenary for hire he does not hold on to any amount of money for very long as he reasons that he won't have any use for it dead.

Lack of respect for his own life: Since Dulark considers his own life next to useless he is willing to take many unnecessary risks in battle that have nearly cost him his life.

Depression: Some times when dulark is contemplating how worthless he believes himself to be. He will drown himself in alcohol to forget his troubles for a little while.

Need for prayer: While Dulark's energy goes away when he uses magic it returns with basically one nights sleep. However he does not believe he can use magic until he spends a certain amount of time on meditation and prayer. depending on how much magic he used it could be any where from one minute to two hours.

Uncontrollable healing: If Dulark is cut he can not himself from healing. Which makes it very hard to work as a mercenary for having many holes in your clothing and coming out of a battle with no wounds is nearly a dead give away for his magic ability. It also drains him of energy in cases of small cuts or other minor injuries. For he expends more energy then it is worth to heal a small cut on his hand. Ie. If he received a small cut on his hand in battle if he had a choice he would leave it be as it doesn't affect him that much. But since it can't help but heal his energy is drained and he is weakened physically far more than he would have been with that cut.

Unnoticed energy use: If Dulark empowers himself due to his entire body feeling amazing he has no actually knowledge of how much energy he is using. He can only guess the amount of remaining energy he has. Kept up long enough he could easily kill himself. This weakness really comes into affect when he becomes furious and enters this state at the same time as he will not be thinking completely rationally which makes him likely to forget that he is running out of energy. Making his chances of serious injury sky rocket.

History:

Dulark's history is a simple one. He born the child of two fanatic parents who worshiped some long forgotten god. Or at least that's what most people considered him. To Dulark's family he was everything. They passed on his teachings everyday to him through word of mouth until he was an expert on their families religion.

From a young age his father taught him to wield a blade only in defense. Mainly of others and of their God. They traveled wherever they could to look for people to spread the word to. They found nearly no one willing to listen. But that did not bother them very much.

His mother taught him how to meditate on their Lord's teachings and how through faith they could "commune with him." As mother put it. Their communication was mainly receiving responses to their prayers through intense moments of unwavering faith. Responses included healing of wounds and lights appearing. When Dulark saw a wound on his arm taken care of by his mother for the first time, his faith was bolstered and became unwavering and in fact unavoidable in every aspect of his life.

Because of Dulark's obsession with his God he found that he was actually unable to stop thinking about him at all times ( which would lead to his inability to not stop healing himself ) and couldn't resist any chance for prayer and meditation.

However due to his constant teachings of both sword and prayer he did not interact with many people outside his parents. He in fact did not want to. His only desire and love were to study and exercise his faith and how he would defend that faith. (This results in his profound lack of knowledge on how to interact with others. Especially since he was never allowed to practice his abilities in public as they are considered illegal. Dulark however would argue that he has no magical abilities.)

During his twenty third year him and his parents were wondering through a very unfortunate area looking for people to help and perhaps heal when they were jumped by a group of thieves. Six of them in total. His father fought wildly to protect his family however they surprised him. They stabbed him repeatedly with their long knives. He managed to slay four of the villains before he himself fell. One of them before the fight was over with his father and the other remaining thief slit Dulark's throat and repeatedly stabbed him in his chest and stomach. Dulark did not see him coming at all. He fell to the ground the world around him quickly fading into white. His own bodies healing was by far not enough to save him. However he vision soon began to come back into focus as his mother healed him. However his wounds were to grievous for heal them to the point of his body being able to sustain life without her literally killing herself in the process. Even then he was unable to move due to his wounds. However he did manage to hear his mother and father's last words to him.

His mother. "I will see you again my son, I love you."
His father. "Pick up the torch my boy I know you can bear the burden."

He awoke the next night and noticed they had been robbed of all their possessions they had on them. Lucky for Dulark they had not taken everything they owned with them. He buried his parents by himself marking their graves with the words faithfully departed on them.

From then on Dulark has become the man who he is to this day. His depression and worthlessness he believes coming from the fact the he is just some nameless sell sword and unworthy of being his parents son.

Possessions: Long sword, two daggers, belt, boots, an inscribed tunic, Back pack, rations and a water skin, Very little money.

Roy,

Hello! We spoke briefly in chat.

Good job on the app. A few things:

First, the picture is way too big!

Second, to my knowledge, Christ does not exist in this setting. Other prophets and gods do exist and paladins are not unusual. We had one or three a few years back.

I think the track you're on with this character does not fit with the setting. Regretfully, I am not approving the application.

I suggest you check out http://www.rpggateway.com/ and search for RP more aligned to your character.
If you don't see one, make one! :) A Crusades-like, medieval plus magic RP might be interesting to many.

Thank you for considering Thar for your RP!
