Physical Description:

To put it lightly, Chester is truly the stuff of dreams. Male or female, one can readily appreciate the half-breed’s beauty - that much more striking for he is a rare male of Dryadic heritage.

Though he does not know who his father is, it can be assumed that he gained his height, lean build, and deep cobalt blue eyes from the man, for his mother bears none of these features. There is also an appealing ruggedness about the set of his jaw and the shape of his brow that suggests his father was from a land far from Trelham where he grew up.

From his mother, Chester has inherited all of what makes a Dryad so famously sensual. His is all at once an unassuming yet bold sensuality that playfully teases the border of downright sinfulness. He has creamy skin, wide almond-shaped eyes (fringed with long thick lashes any woman might envy), and full pouting lips that ignite terribly wicked thoughts.

One of the most interesting features that the half-Dryad bears is his hair, typically worn in such a fashion that it falls stylishly over one eye. His hair is an anomaly just as Chester himself is (males of a Dryadic heritage being rare) for with the changing of the season so too does his hair shift in colour. During the summer it is a brilliant golden blonde, which then slowly darkens to a rich auburn red shot with tawny gold and deep browns in the autumn. In the winter his hair become a pure snow white before shifting to what appears to be a deep, almost rich purple hue in the springtime.

Cinching his exotic look, Chester bears a single tattoo on his face, that of a green vine that wends its way over one brow and twists down a smooth cheek. It was a tattoo he received in Marn during his time as a slave, to always remind himself of the freedom he once knew in Trelham.

Possessions:

Chester does not have much by way of possessions, for he had to leave many of his belongings behind when he escaped from the brothel. Aside from a few pieces of finely made clothing gifted to him from a few adoring "clients", his only possessions of note are two daggers named Left and Right which he wears sheathed in each boot, a delicate silver chain he wears wrapped carefully around his left wrist, and a rune-adorned staff created from the wood of his Dryad mother's Home Tree. None of these poessessions seem to be magical, though there is a bit of an alchemic stink about the daggers and the suggestion of something more to the staff...

Powers or Strengths:

Chester, beauty and exotic looks aside, is a learned individual. He obtained all of the skills and techniques of a high-paid companion from his Masters in Marn's brothel row, trained in etiquette, dance, song, and bed-sport. He could be considered a top of the class in all of these areas and has a peculiar grace about him that adds a unique flair to all he does.

He’s cultured and has the airs of one used to living a cosmopolitan lifestyle, even if his purpose had mainly been to be a living piece of art for a room, or a succulent tool for those whom he was paid to pleasure.

Chester also has some skill with using his staff and dagger to defend himself, and that, coupled with a natural affinity for that fighting style, make him a slippery force in a physical engagement. He’s quick and always seems to be just outside of one’s reach, dancing out of harm’s way with definite agility.

Otherwise, like most with Dryadic blood within them, Chester has an affinity with Nature and seems to easily understand the chattering of her creatures, even if he himself cannot communicate directly with them.

Perhaps Chester's greatest strength, or at least the most unique, lies in his chameleon-like ability to blend with his surroundings. While fairly useless in places of stone, metal, and wood where he cannot feel the thrum of the land beneath his feet, in places of nature Chester can, for a short time, disappear into scenery by taking on the characteristics of his surroundings. While in his chameleon state, Chester cannot move or the illusion will be shattered and his location will be revealed.

Weaknesses:

Chester, once the purveyor of exquisitely erotic experiences, now cannot stand to be touched. He will go to great lengths to avoid contact with others, and consequently keeps to himself whenever possible. He is cold and aloof, and his extensive training as a prostitute in Marn has afforded him the skills to keep any expression from touching his delicious features. Most of the time he speaks in an emotionless monotone and his attitude tends to drive people from him, despite how drawn to him others seem to be.

For the most part, Chester prefers this, as he has come to associate any attraction to his looks or personality as a negative thing.

The half-Dryad is a decent fighter, but he lacks the skill and hardness that comes with a lifetime of training. He uses his staff as his primary weapon so that he does not have to kill unnecessarily, as that is abhorrent to his Dryadic heritage. His preference to not fight in general has brought him some trouble when traveling alone, in big cities or otherwise.

Though undoubtedly in shape, Chester doesn’t have a fighter’s stamina nor the bulk to survive a direct confrontation very long. His method is strike and retreat, avoiding blows whenever possible. Not all situations lend themselves to this strategy, however.

His affinity for nature and for natural magicks is weakened if not non-existent by his human blood.

History:

Chester Dasamue “Thistle” has not lived a storybook life. In his 24 years he has grown from a young child who adored his family, to the most sought-after ‘companion’ on Brothel Row in Marn, and, most recently, a wanderer with little direction. One thing remains a constant, however; wherever Chester goes, he is a creature of a distinct and rare beauty – a male Dryad.

Chester never knew his father, but was told by his Dryad mother that he was a brutally handsome man whom she still adored to some capacity… even though he had stayed with her no more than two days. For the most part, Chester could care less about who his sire was; he cares little about most things in life, least of all family.

When Chester was but a baby, his mother, unable and unwilling to care for the boy (for such things were not conducive to the frivolous Dryadic nature), gave him up to a passing ranger who chanced upon her Home Tree. The ranger, smitten by the Dryad's beauty and enticed by her sensuality, agreed to take him and raise him as his own. Before he left, his mother gave him the name of 'Dasamue'.

The ranger took Chester home with him and his wife, and, though from Trelham and undoubtedly poor, took him in willingly since they had no children of their own. They gave him a different name, one that they were able to pronounce more easily. They called him Chester, and until the age of 10 he lived a very comfortable and happy life with his adopted mother and father.

Eventually, however, the ranger and his wife had children of their own and not a single one of them liked their adopted brother. Beautiful even at the age of 10, he drew all sorts of attention from everyone he met, especially their parents. Jealously ran deep between all of the children, and they did everything they could to make the exotic child's life as terrible as possible. Still, it wasn't until the ranger was killed that Chester’s true nightmare began.

His mother, exceedingly poor and unable to take care of all of her children on her by herself, became associated with a man who had traveled from a place far away from Trelham. He said he would take Chester somewhere good, somewhere where he would learn the arts of living in a City. He told her that he would make the child into a civilized young man, able to move within any social circle he wished. He also said he would pay to take the child with him.

Deciding that she would sacrifice one child to save the rest, his mother sold Chester to the man and he was taken away.

Never would he see his adopted family again.

The man was actually an illicit slave trader from Marn and he had seen the rare beauty in Chester even then. He was never unkind to the boy, but when they reached the city he placed him on the slaver’s bidding blocks in the Marn black market. Kordo the Fat, a notorious brothel owner, bought Chester for an extremely high price, already seeing the profit his exotic looks would fetch him when he was older.

Kordo never touched the boy for 5 years after he bought him, instead apprenticing him with women and men in his brothel who began training him in the arts of companionship. Chester learned much and was for the most part, well taken care of. However, when he turned 15 and his childish features had begun to replace themselves for that of a deliciously handsome man, Kordo the Fat took him to his bed.

He broke the boy in first, and thus Chester's time a sex slave began. The brothel gave him the name of 'Thistle' because over time, he grew to be a stunning man outwardly, but was cold and prickly on the inside. Eventually, “Thistle” became one of the most sought-after companions on Brothel Row, his clients paying top dollar to spend time with the beautiful creature.

When he was 21, one of his clients fell honestly in love with him. She saw the emptiness in the half-Dryad's eyes, and so one night while they shared a bed, she told him of her plan to break him free of Kordo's chains. She bought his time for a day and a half, and then, in the early hours of the morning, she poisoned one of the bouncers and gave Chester her clothing. In disguise, the half-Dryad escaped and never looked back.

The woman was put to death for her actions, though thankfully, Chester never discovered this.

For the next couple of years, trying to shake the scars left from his time as prostitute in Marn, the half-Dryad wandered. He attracted the same attention as ever, for his beauty never diminished but only grew with each passing year. He was a shell of a person, going out of his way to avoid contact with anybody he came across, distant and cold. At length, he found his way back to Eyropa and his mother's Home Tree, needing suddenly to discover who he really was.

His mother told him of the stranger who sired him and gave him a name. She sent him away with a staff made from the branches of the Hawthorne where she lived. Before he left, his mother placed a hand on her son's chest and whispered into his ear, "Dasamue, look into your heart and you’ll find your path."

Even more discontent than before, Chester now wanders, looking for something he isn’t quite sure how to find.

Hey there, and welcome to Thar!

I think for the most part your character fits into the setting. What I will be focusing on is his strengths, weaknesses, and getting a better feel for who he is as a character.

He is capable of seducing pretty much anyone and can hold his own in a fight. The seduction goes with the character, but why would a prostitute have any reason to learn how to defend himself? A good whore master would keep his baubles sleek and essentially useless for anything beyond sex, having no desire to have them harm his clients. Likewise, the clients would have no desire to be hurt by their whore, unless they were into pain -- and in that case knowing how to fight is an entirely separate thing from knowing how to use pain to induce sexual pleasure.

If it is a matter of defense against other players, Thar isn't a place where you'd need that for your character. We're focused on storytelling, not fighting each other. For those with characters who do know how to fight the player would have to make sure any action taken against your character is done so with your permission. If it is something you'd like as part of your character, I'd like you to include the how and why he learned how to defend himself. If he learned from the ranger, how did he keep those skills while in the brothel? If he learned in the brothel, why did the slave owner allow him to have such dangerous skills?

I'd like a weakness that relates directly to (or interferes with) his seduction capabilities. Though he does not like to be touched, it is still possible to manipulate someone sexually without letting them touch you. Some people would find that sort of cat and mouse game all the more appealing. Not to mention that it isn't really a weakness for him as he prefers not to be touched and doesn't seem to suffer any ill effects from lack of touch (I know if I go without touch for a few days I start to crave it and feel lonely, and not in a sexual way).

I'd also like more weaknesses that speak to his mental state. He has been used and abused pretty much his whole life. How does this affect his interaction with other people? Is he lonely? What affect has being a plaything for others have on his mental or physical well-being?

What about strengths, can he read people well? Has being so cut off from loving emotions strengthened his resolve or has it weakened him? Does he have a deep reservoir of passion or has it all bled from him, and he's just going through the motions trying to remember how to live? How does the blending of dryad and human instincts affect him?

Now that he is out of the brothel, how does he make money? Does he steal?

Okidokes, if you have any questions or comments don't hesitate to pm myself, Niabi or Frug. You can also leave comments in this thread or hop into chat. If you make any edits to your app, please leave a reply in this thread so I know to look at it again.

Thank you for getting back to me! I'll rework his profile and let you know when it's done. :) Thank you for understanding that this character is essentially a port from my old mod account on a different site. He wasn't one of the main ones I rp'd, so there's a lot of room to expand and really flesh him out. I appreciate your concrit and will get to work!
