Mages (Ostensibly WIP)

Alright, these guys are like the Bortherhood of Steel (Fallout series)\. These two are rough and tumble berserkers. They are reasonably powerful with magic, and since it is Jerial writing this, they can just share my magic system for brevity. Feel free to leave comments!!
So here goes:

Names: Mage Kado and Mage Cerion

Kado:

6'7''
175lb
25 years
Eyes: Green
Hair: Brown

Kado is one of those people whose every move is suicide, but have an ungodly amount of luck. He carries a large claymore, and is the battlemagic/warrior-type of the pair. He is young, only 25, which is unusual for a mage of his rank. He has a strong jawline and high cheekbones, and ever-so-slightly pointed ears, betraying his partially elven ancestry (being that his grandfather on both sides, incidentally, was half-elven).

Kado has long brown hair, often loosely tied with a strip of leather, but let down when he is off the road.

Kado's body is very muscular and sinewy ((mesomorph)). His body is set heavier than Cerion's, but he is still not a huge man. Kado broke both of his legs and his back when he fell from a three-story building, and cannot run very fast, even with his peak agility.

Kado's Possessions:

- Claymore: Kado's trusty sword is around as tall as he is, with the hilt being about 2 feet and the blade taking the rest of the height. The blade is as wide as the hilt, and is rectangular; there are 2 spikes perpendicular to the blade facing the same way as the blade's edge. The metal is enchanted to not chip or break, and to become stronger than the original iron. ((Think Seigfried from Soul Calibur, you get the idea))

- Mage's Robes: Kado wears slightly altered robes, tailored to provide maximum efficiency when in battle. The robes were weaved with an enchantment to act with the same protection as mail armor, but still be as flexible as cloth.

Kado has few other possessions, but those would be mundane items, such as his sidearm, a standard shortsword and an iron buckler, which he wears on his hip, and his hunting knife.

Kado's strengths
Kado is very varied in his talent. He is a freelance mercenary mage, meaning he has considerable skill in magecraft, but is primarily a warrior. Many beasts and sentient beings alike have fallen to his blade ((in modern vernacular, he would be 'trigger-happy')).

Kado is very intimidating, with both his huge sword and his piercing green eyes. He has dispatched as many foes as not using fear, showing off his power to entice the enemy to run.

He is a fairly accomplished demon hunter, having the heads of a few formidable demons mounted in his family's hall.

Kado's weaknesses
Kado has little experience with politics, and really does not understand much of the conflict in Marn. But he does know that he hates Puradynes, and that's all he thinks he needs to know.

Kado has a distinct lack of agility due to previously broken legs and four vertebrae in his back. He has reached the peak of his athleticism in the rest of his body to make up for this, and can maneuver as well as any average person in his legs, and has exceeded expectations in his back. He has to carry most of the weight of his claymore in his arms and chest to reduce pressure on his back, so those muscle groups are the most developed.

Cerion

6'1
150lb
28 years
Eyes: Black
Hair: Black

Cerion is a mage at heart. He is a sage, a scholar, a patient teacher, and a practitioner of magic that is not to be taken for granted. He is Kado's best friend, and will follow him into battle wherever he goes, though will usually advise him against it. He has the hair and eyes of a raven, and is lean for his size. Even so, he is not a weakling. He has a hatred for Puradynes unmatched by most, but understood by all. His twin brother was killed by Puradyne radicals just for using magic. He was killed in the same manner they wished to kill Cerion, but Cerion escaped with only a rope scar on his neck...

Cerion's possessions
Mage's robes: Cerion's robes, like Kado's, are personally tailored, but his are enchanted to extend the power of his magic in the stead of their aid in melée fighting. His robes help to pull energy from the Astral Plane with less strain than his mind can alone, as well as being threaded with wards against magical attack.

Staff: Cerion's staff is a shaft of naturally white wood with a purple gem at its crest. It serves as walking stick, as well as a weapon when necessary, as it is enchanted not to break much the same as Kado's claymore. He does not place much stock in physical items, but is partial to the staff, as it was a gift from his brother.

Cerion's strengths
Cerion is quite the powerful mage, being able to cast things such as fireballs, blasts of pure magic, magical shields, portals, and the like ((Will put more on here as I think of it ;) ))

Cerion is very proficient in politics, and has decided the rebellion in Marn is worthy of his attention.

Stemming from his knowledge of politics, Cerion is a great leader of men, able to inspire them and manipulate them if need be.

Cerion's weaknesses
Cerion is not very physically powerful, and though he is a great leader, he is not very proficient in tactics.

Even when Cerion is in battle, he strives to be nonviolent. he kills swiftly and concisely, which is one of the major reasons he is against the Puradynes, who do not use magic to efficiently settle violent disputes.

Cerion's loyalty is torn between his own interests and those of the Society, and usually is caught up in some lie or another related to why or how he performs a certain task.

The pair:

This bonding experience would prove useful; they eventually came to know everything about each other, and were a very effective team in most tasks. "Together," Kado once remarked, "we almost make a good person." To which Cerion mused, "Hmm, I wonder whether you realize what you said was an insult." Kado did not hear him correctly, but when he asked Cerion to repeat it, he just shook his head and chuckled. This rapport continued for a few years.

After returning from a successful job in Corezo, Cerion received an anonymous message via carrier pigeon that stated an elf and a human, both shifters, would arrive in their region, and that they must escort them to Marn. The only other information they were given was that they would get the chance to have long-awaited revenge on the Puradynes.

And so they wait for the appearance of a pair of travelers who have no business with anyone, or so they think.

I'm guilty of not reading this when you first posted it, which I should have.

The Society was essentially built around my character Leni, as I wanted a formal, political mercenary guild setup closely entwined with Eyropa, leaning towards bureaucracy and too many rules. I wanted to make it overbuilt and sort of pretentious, as I felt it would contrast nicely with how fucked up Leni got throughout her history.

Thing is, the Society takes money to kill monsters and negotiate with fairies and daimons. They rely on the Empire's support to stay afloat. They have conflict with the Puradynes, but they would not act out openly against them or have anyone within their ranks who had a grudge against them without a more evenheaded mentor to keep them from doing anything stupid.

The Society would stay well away from any political activists; they like their cushy arrangement with the Empire, and try not to harm their reputation as has been done in their past. As well, they'd stay out of Marn itself, as they are based around magic and all its crap and would not be welcome in Marn since it is majorly held by the Puradynes.

I think perhaps you might be best coming up with your own group for them to have come from, rather than the Society. It shouldn't harm their character, and it would allow you a more loose organization, rather than the uptight bureaucratic stiffness the Society is based around.

I can come up with another group if you want? :D Maybe something more anti-puradyne in base nature. Or you can. Either way.

Anti-Puradyne Eyropa would likely be south-west-ish or central. You could even base it in the northern-africa half if you want a flair of exotic, with some spillover on the main continent. You could make it an opposing, small-faction religion (magic based, maybe with some non religious tie in to make it bigger if you wanted, like an elite guard type of thing). If they're dedicated to undermining Puradynes then it'd even be highly likely they have a nest of operatives in Marn, as well as other heavily Puradyne controlled cities.

If you want more of a cold organization feel (job's a job) then it could even be a secret-ish society type of thing, or even more of a cell-based group where the motives are unknown and each cell receives orders without knowing the larger picture.

Or it could even be a mercenary outfit that takes on any sort of job, without needing any deeper motives than that. Your choice.
