Heya!
First of all, I really do like to think of roleplaying as just cooperative writing, at least on here. You're telling your character's story in a cooperative manner with other people who are telling
their character's stories. The result, the thread, is the interaction between all of that.
For you, as a newbie, the very very very first thing I would do is check out what characters are publicly available (
http://www.tharshaddin.com/rp/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1497) and what threads are going on (
http://www.tharshaddin.com/rp/viewforum.php?f=2). You will be much happier and get involved much quicker if you find another free character or an active plot and join it, rather than wait for someone to ask you.
My biggest tips are to pay attention to other people's posts and be considerate of both your character and others' characters. I think you'll be surprised at how easily the rest will come. I know that my own writing has improved quite a bit after joining here, and others have expressed their own improvement. Be open to what your thread partners have to say, and
think ahead.
Too often threads can stagnate if people don't have an ace up their sleeve of what happens next. Always be thinking up advancements of plots, but always be flexible and ready to change up what you were thinking on the fly.
Good luck and have fun.
