Look, guys and gals. I'm sure something along these lines has been brought up before, but it's time someone said it again to remind everyone.

(And, Frug, feel free to blow up this thread if you feel it's crossing the line..)

But, seriously, guys. And gals. Seriously.

I am SO.. SO.. disappointed with the applications lately. Why can't we, like, get just one app that is blatantly plagiarized or heinously overpowered? Is it too much to ask?

I mean, gals and guys , COME ON. Take this app for example: http://www.tharshaddin.com/rp/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2653

For.. SERIOUS. Look at the hair. BALD?!?! Are you SURE that it wasn't supposed to read "multi-colored, flowing locks that change with his mood and enthrall nearby common-folk and livestock?" That's how I would have written it. For sure.

And what's more--look at the possessions. A DUFFEL BAG?! COME ON! Would it have been THAAAT difficult to, idunno, dream up some suspicious-looking amulet with latent, world-blow-upping powers that unlock the first time the character is told they smell like stale crackers and goose farts?

Those powers and weaknesses, too. Good at swimming? Does that even need to be listed? I thought every character was just automatically good at things like swimming across oceans, scaling sheer cliff faces and marathon sexcapades. And then, AND THEN.. he's nearsighted! What the heck, gals (and guys)? What interesting character has ever had a REAL flaw? Weaknesses is where you put things like, "Humility -- Rapunzella Ultima Blackwing VIII is just sooooo totally unable to lose sight of the role that others play in her successes. She like, goes out of her way, you know, to let people know how much their help means to her. I mean, sure, that makes her pretty popular, but think of all the effort. I mean, it's hard to not take credit for everything, right? Right."

To our newbies (and veterans creating new characters): I am keeping my eye on you. Not the ruby-red one. The emerald-green one. Because, of course, I have heterochromia iridium.

If this trend continues we will consider enforcing some requirements for shimmering eye colors, superfluous flaws designed to allow superhero-like powers, and require at least one popular recent movie or book to be plagiarized.

Haha, I have been thinking about this too lately. July is more than half over and we have have yet to get one overpowered, stereotypical summer movie rip-offs. Maybe it's just a slow summer or maybe they are all just waiting to join all at once. I know, they all must be waiting til the end of summer to surprise me with all their awesomeness as a birthday gift, and give me an excuse to use my hoof print that I save for only the most special of apps.

I'll give him some metal hair that picks stuff up for him, a bag that can hold potentially everything in the entire world, and I'll brush up on some Warhammer novels for that plagiarism part.

Maybe they're intimidated by the sheer awesome of our writing?

I mean, it takes talent to find seven synonyms for "iridescent" for each post. It take practice to make the momentous choice between fiery curls and chocolate locks, to select whether you simply want different-coloured or colour-changing eyes (because only an amateur would go with both! Unless they were a shapeshiter), to know which beautiful and noble animal represents the true spirit of the character and to make the right choice about whether they should be given Artemis' Bow or the Sword of Justice as their primary weapon.

These newbies are just finding their feet. Maybe we should lay off and let them play around with their average-looking farmhands and adventurers who have minor (if any!) magical powers until they find their feet and craft a proper character. Since good characters are too awesomely powerful to ever die or recieve any injury or setback not directly related to huge payoffs and positive character development, deciding on the minor details for them is a big commitment.

Sorry about that, I must have forgotten to mention that Esme is a Quidditch champion from highschool, her cousin killed Voldemort, and that Charlie can talk and solve mysteries and turns into a sexy human boy who looks 18 but is 1,303,690,239 years old.

Also she's like sooo hot and anyone who meets her wants to get in her pants and everyone likes her automatically and follows her leadership even though she has no leadership experience.

Won't happen again.
