To Be or Not to Be

Okay, I managed to convince myself I screwed up but in the end I'll let you be the judge of that.

To start off, Church PMed me suggesting I join "Drugs, The Thief, and the Acacia Opium."

However, within lies a problem.

I just got my own place, and I'll be moving in as soon as I can get a break from provisioning the John C. Stennis in preparation for it's departure.

Given that, at this moment I consider it an unwise decision to jump into somebody else's plot because I might not be able to meet the posting requirement initially which would possibly make the others in the plot wait for me. I clearly do not wish to put anybody through that.

In that case, would it be advised that I still join a plot and potentially make them wait for me? That I start my own plot (I'm not looking for anyone to join)? Or that I sit things out until I get settled down?

Obviously if you want to go ahead and just do a solo thread, maybe develop your character's personality through writing a bit, it wouldn't matter if you were too busy to post regularly, so if you want to do that, go ahead. You could always try to get other people to join in later, once things are settled, if things work out.

You could also join/start a thread with someone else not looking to post regularly, or who is already in several threads and therefore wouldn't feel like they were being held back by you not posting often in their thread with you. There are several people with multiple characters who might be interested and I guess they might post here if they're interested.

Other than that, if you don't think you can keep up with what other people expect in posting speed, particularly with threads involving 3+ characters, best to play it safe and not risk holding a thread back.

All you really need to do is ask the other person/people who you're interested in writing with about how often they'd want you to post. Some people like to post several times a day and some people might not even post for a month or two.

Wow, you pretty much justified all three of the options I gave lol. Thank you for your advice Arusa, I really appreciate it.

Personally, I like to post at least once a day when I can, but I have unbelievable patience when it comes on waiting for others to post. Of course that doesn't mean make me wait forever, ha ha.

Oh and fair warning, I kind of write in inspirational bursts. And when I'm not inspired I tend to get writer's block :3

You can also always just join the thread and then when you'll be gone for awhile just have them skip you. So long as your character is not in a direct conversation (or if you leave a few notes on what your character is like to do) it should work out okay. I've done that before in the past when I knew I would be away for awhile.

Also, look at the frequency of posts made by the others in the thread. Then, if you think you can negotiate with them for timing, you should be alright. I'd suggest setting expectations and managing those expectations. Things tend to go pretty smoothly when that is done well.

Thank you again for your assistance Saruna, and domo arigato to you as well Metarie. I guess I'll just pick option number 1 and establish a feel for this, a feel for what I want.

I responded to your question in the shoutbox, but I just repeated what the others had to say.

Don't worry Niabi. I saw what you responded in the shoutbox. It definitely helps to reinforce the rules and whatnot. Muchos gracias Niabi.
