Player name: Justin

Character name: Hachar Al'Azkhet

Race: Human

Age: 23

Hair: Dark, thin goatee beard and mustache, hair is shoulder length and sometimes drawn into a knot.

Skin: Very tanned

Profession: Former Corsair turned River Merchant

Hachar Physical Description: Hachar stands at 6'2". He is thin and muscular, almost wiry. He has an Arabic sheen in skin hue. He is a 6 on a scale of 1-10 for handsome. He weighs in at perhaps 180. A long scar traverses his midsection where a pirate scored him.

Possessions: four changes of clothing, a long curved scimitar, 200 Bishani,a coin pouch, four throwing shirks hidden on his person in various places.

Hachar's most prized possession is the Scimitar, the river barge he nearly owns when the loan of four thousand Bishani he owes to a money lender in Marn is finally paid--he still owes 2000.

He also owns a magical golden coin which returns to him within a day of leaving of his hand--a gift of his father, a sea faring adventurer who settled in Marn when he took a wife of the city.

Strengths: Hachar is an able water pilot. He has knowledge of ships of the sea. He can fight well with scimitar and knife. He also has great street smarts which aid him in his illegal activities.

Weaknesses: Hachar distrusts and even fears magic. He has fled it before..the supernatural terrifies him. He is too trusting in those who he deems a friend. He has a penchant for strong drink and the favors of women. Also, he is given to fits of melancholy which cause him to neglect is duties on the Scimitar and at home to his mother and father.

Bio: Hachar is of mixed ancestry--his father Rakim came from the southern lands of Semerket, after many amazing voyages and adventures too fantastic to relate at the moment. His mother Antha Alees was a daughter of Marn who was taken by the dashing corsair Rakim when she saw him strolling on the Bridge.

Rakim married Antha and made a home for her--he gave up his endless questing for adventures but not the sea and was gone for months at a time as he transported the goods of Thar Shaddin to other lands far and near. But he always returned and somehow made an impression on his young son.

When Hachar was old enough to accompany his father aboard the Narwhal, he discovered the life of the sea. His first taste of battle was helping the ships mates and his father repel pirates who boarded the cutter....he was fifteen.

When Rakim finally retired, he permitted his son to command the Narwhal on a voyage to the Northern isles. The ship was caught in a terrific storm and was lost, but by some miracle the youth and three mates survived. He returned home but the great ship was lost.

Hachar took out a loan to finance the Scimitar and makes a living plying the waters of the Ofriyu Mar, ferrying folks up and down the smoother parts of the River.

He is also quite willing to ferry goods and people that are illegally leaving and entering Marn. He has many friends in Marn's underworld and the historic district and his desire is to one day buy another sea vessel.

Hachar's father taught him the art of the scimitar and the use of daggers and small knives, including throwing knives. Hachar is very able with the blade. He can also climb and leap and swim with uncanny skill, and hold his breath for long periods of time underwater--this is not magical--only a result of much practice from boyhood. His other "powers" are the uncanny street wise he has learned from his smuggling trade--his father knows nothing of this life. Hachar has a few good shady contacts and is ever seeking to expand this network. He doesn't see what he does as immoral--he just feels that people should be able to make a better living than the law allows….

Hachar's mate aboard his barge is Grimook, the unhappy result of a Troll-Dwarf union. Grimook is unspeakably ugly and rude but not altogether stupid--if Grimook's looks favor his trollish sire his wit came from the she dwarf who bore him. Grimook is an able water craft pilot and is intensely loyal to Hachar, whose father won him in a game of bone dice from a slaver and granted him freedom and a place on the Narhwal. Grimook carries a cruel dagger for the belly of anyone who tries to harm Hachar, who treated him as a friend and playmate from their earliest times together--but the beastly creature is also capable of leaping upon one and rending them soundly with his evil claws, though he is only four feet tall. Grimook is a cause of much revulsion by the majority who behold him…

Thus far, Hachar has eluded detection by the city officials as he makes his secret night trips. His boat has a hidden compartment that can conceal two human size occupants and hidden nets below that are often laden with waterproofed containers hauling contraband.

Hachar would be much richer if he didn't frequent the taverns and the brothel where he is in love with a "lady" named Missika.

Hachar has no magical abilities that he knows of and doesn't want any--anything supernatural causes him genuine suspicion if not outright fear.

Hello and welcome to Thar.

I have read over your character and I would like to ask if you can add a few more things to it. I noticed that you chose not to use our character format, which is fine, I would just like for you to include all the necessary information into your sheet.

First of all, you are going to need a physical description. Other members here will want some way of describing your character beyond "dark hair, tan skin, thin goatee."

I saw you added a few things that could be considered character strengths within the history, could you add these and any other significant skills he might have to a section of their own.

Finally, we will need some weaknesses and personal flaws. I saw that he likes to spend a good deal of money on a girl and frequents a tavern, but we would like some more in-depth flaws that really bring out his personality and give him something to work with as well as against. I like to think of these flaws not necessarily as limitations on the character but as possible plot devices to further the character and his story.

I'm very sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I haven't been feeling well these past few days and this is the first time I've been out of bed and on the computer in almost three days.

Approved.
