Posted: Thu Jul 09, 2009 3:10 am
Name: Adarian Tannis (The Black Rider, Rider)
Age: 50 (Though he appears to be 25)
Race: Half-Elf
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 164lbs
Physical description: Adarian is tall and thin, the traces of Elven blood making him lithe and quick. His piercing blue eyes seem supernatural in appearance and stand out starkly against his deathly pale skin. A ragged mop of stringy, chin length black hair sits atop Adarian's head, framing his gaunt face and slightly elven features perfectly. His hair also covers the chunk of flesh missing from the top of his left ear, a wound that he often toys with unconsciously when he's deep in thought. Most often, Adarian can be seen clad in a light weight set of black traveling clothes with calf high boots, black leather gloves, and a heavy black cloak, usually with the cowl pulled up.
Possessions: To this day, Adarian only has the possessions that he had when he rode into Marn. His clothes, an ornate long sword with a matching long bow, a quiver of arrows, a hunting knife, a heavy black clock, his faithful horse, whom he calls Darkstar, and a elegantly crafted pendant in the shape of a star on a silver chain.
Strengths: Rider, as he's called by many, is proficient with the long sword and more than proficient with the long bow. Adarian is a decent tactician but his his main strength lies in his naturally cunning nature. His most prominent strength is sheer luck. Adarian has an uncanny ability to survive situations that others who are equally, if not, more capable don't make it through.
Weaknesses: The biggest flaw Adarian has is his ego. He has a tendency to underestimate his foe forcing himself to really on his wits and sheer force of will to get him out of trouble when he's in over his head. Even though Adarian is conniving and manipulative, he is also uncouth and tends to say the wrong thing in social situations. Another major drawback for Adarian is his amnesia. He cannot remember anything before his arrival in Marn, not even his name. In addition, Adarian is also extremely sensitive to sunlight, which is why he stays hidden beneath his cloak.
History: Prince Adarian Tannis of Aerylin was born in the year 172. The combination of a neglectful father and an over-protective mother yielded what could only be described as a "monster." From an extremely young age Adarian showed all the demanding and dire need for attention possessed by his older noble counterparts. The fact that he was a single child and doted open quite excessively by his mother did absolutely nothing to help.
Even as a prince, the lack of respect that Adarian was shown due to his heritage was infuriating to him. He often wondered how his father could allow a member of the royal family to experience such horrible treatment at the hand of people in a lesser station.
As a teenager, Adarian's had progressed to full on narcissism. It wasn't entirely unwarranted, as most of the women (both noble or peasant) could not bring themselves to resist his charms.
