Player Name: Delvin

Name: Delvin Mackinaw Orbyrus

Age: 42

Race:Human and part dwarf maybe about 25%

Height:5'5"

Weight:225

Physical Description:
Delvin's appearance shows how he lived his life and match his somewhat surly temper. He is not what people would truly call good looking in any sense of the word yet he loves his appearance and who he is.

His face is large with blunt corners especially around his thick jaw though it is covered by a long and complicated beard . Above his beard is a nose ,which due to years of being a hormonally raging teenager who liked picking fights, is turned a little to the right side and had obviously been broken many times. He has hard set dark blue eyes that peer intently and sternly though they hold a twinkle that tells everyone around that he isn't fully sane.

His hair is one of the most interesting things about his appearance. He is completely bald which shows of the blunt corners of his skull which makes people whisper that he is not completely human. His beard though reaches down his chest. It has four braids that are horribly put together by stone beads and is covered in food bits, stone, and anything else he dropped in there. The hair is coarse and wiry and is horribly taken care of.

Though short Delvin is broad and heavily muscled. He holds massive forearms and rock hard biceps made from the hours training and in the forge. His chest is not only hairy but broad and thick with a couple scars along it. One such scar he got from pressing a still hot blade to his chest to see if it would hurt. His hands are large and heavily calloused and scarred showing he had always favored hard work over play time unless that play time involved fighting.

His clothes are nothing special and many would say he doesn't even change clothes since his wardrobe consists of basically the same type of shirt and pants. He wears a very loose and large brown shirt which seems gray/black due to smoke and grime which covers his whole body giving him an unhygienic appearance and he really does care about hygiene.

His left leg knee cap was busted a long time ago so he walks with a limp and when he runs it seems more like an uncomfortable gallop. Looking at it it seems a little deformed and more like some type of oval square.

Possessions:
Smithy Belt A- This is a large apron made of hard worked leather that holds all his crafting tools. He wears this only in the shop since some of the tools in it are small, complex and most importantly cost a lot of money so he can't have someone steal it. Looking upon it though you realize you wouldn't know what to steal. It has so many holders and little pockets that hold thongs of different kinds, different tools to write in the metal or make designs.

Smithy Belt B- This is a large thick black leather belt which hold his weapons. Having never liked bladed weapons since they could be easily deflected and weren't his style Delvin fell in love with hammers. It holds a eight hammers ready for him to use. Six of them are throwing hammers while two placed on both sides within easy reach are for close combat and a lot larger. All of the hammers he uses have been crafted by himself since he trust no one else to craft anything for him.

Smithy- He owns a good sized smithy in the Downtown district. Racks of weapons and other items are all stacked near the walls and the rest of the room is dominated by a large forge where he......well forges whatever he has to. It is one of the things Delvin cares for immensely due to the fact that it saved him from a life of anger and frustration and the joy he gets from crafting.

Weapons and Armor- All of the weapons and armor are not only for the customers but for him. If the need arises he will use whatever is in that shop to fight.

Powers or Strengths:
Strength- Being as large as he is he is quite powerful. He has been known to lift grown men two feet taller than him above his head and throw them out a tavern if they get on his nerves.

Hammers- He isn't the greatest fighter but he is competent and would have joined the guard if it wasn't for his limp. With his strength and these crushing weapons he bashes through shield and armor with relish. Also his throwing arm isn't bad either and six times out of ten he'll hit his target.

Craft- Delvin is a really good smith which makes up for him being a jackass...sometimes. He is also a minor mage smith and can give his creations a minor ability. Ex. nails that don't rust, stronger swords, swifter spears, etc.

Tough skin- Through all his work and the heat his skin has been hardened and flames don't burn that much and daggers and blades don't cut that easily though if enough force is behind the weapon it doesn't really matter.

Weaknesses:

Limp- His limp hinders him from moving with speed and running for a while sends shooting pains through his body. Also if hit with another hard blow it will shatter again and he might lose movement of that leg. Also that means he can't turn fast or move quickly.

Jackass- Delvin is a super jackass and racist. He truly only hold respect for smiths and warriors yet will still make fun of them. Even if he doesn't know you your bound to feel some harsh words coming from him which ends up with people not liking him and losing some business.

Drunk- He loves the drink like a full dwarf and normally out drinks everyone in the tavern to a roaring applause and maybe to a couple bar fights which leads to injuries he causes himself and having to fix or pay for damage which causes him to lose time and/or money.

Deaf- Being in a forge with all that banging metal can really do some damage to your hearing and it did a number on his. He isn't completely deaf but he can hear you whisper and you have to basically yell to get your point across when in public.

Yelling- For some reason Delvin has the urge to yell. Nothing he says is ever quiet which has everybody know his business and what he is saying about others. This causes many problems since people can tell him many things of importance since he normally repeats it out loud to make sure he has it right. This also causes anger in many people because they know if he wanted to he could just read their lips.

No Business Skills- Delvin is an idiot when it comes to business and he never truly gets what he is supposed to do. When other people have sales and marketing he just sits and brags to his tavern buddies or anyone who asks. The only reason he even gets business is because word circles around yet it could be so much better.

History:
Jackass, fool, aggressive, racist, aggravating, and many other words can be said to describe Delvin but by all accounts he wasn't raised wrong and all these traits he seemed to gain on his own. You can be baffled and wonder why didn't he follow in his parents footsteps and lived the life of a simple farmer. His exact words to the last person who asked that were these, " 'Cause I didn't feel like being a damn poor farmer all my life now get the hell away 'fore I plant a hammer head in your face!"

Delvin was the third child of five boys and the runt of the litter. His parents loved them all equally but his brothers were obviously not so nice. He had to deal with his brothers ,no matter the age since they were all taller than him, picking on him and jumping him whenever possible. They made his life hell but none of the actions were out of spite or hate so he held no grudge but instead accepted the fights and words and just learned from the experience knowing his time would come. The time came when he reached the age of thirteen and now it became obvious he wasn't fully human.

At the age of thirteen Delvin's body matured some and he found out how he was different. To all appearances his body wasn't overly muscled yet he held a strength only his oldest brother could match. His brothers now couldn't pick on him like they used to and if they wanted a fight they needed to outnumber him or they would leave with a broken nose and a loss of pride. Of course all this fighting and winning only heightened his and made him more confident and due to his dwarven heritage a little more rude and insensitive to those he could beat up.

Matthew's(Delvin's father) grandfather had been a dwarf yet had died before his son's birth or that is what everyone thinks since he had left the Marn one day to go hunting and never came back. His grandmother saddened and a little ashamed since people never really thought highly of her love to a dwarf kept it from her son so he grew up thinking he was fully human and by all appearances he looked it except for the fact that he was kind of short and bulky. Matthew and the rest of the family would have discussions when they thought Delvin wasn't there on what the heck he was but no one could reach a definite conclusion so they just kept on treating him like before.

Delvin's oldest brother was the only one who could inherit the farm so he and his three other brothers had to find jobs in Marn if they wanted to make a living. Delvin came into the town his held held high and looking about unimpressed and trying to look every bit the bad boy he wanted to be. He soon realized that the city didn't really appreciate that and he was put out on his ass time after time when he went for a job and acted like he should already have it by now.

Sick and tired of all this crap Delvin picked the easiest job he could think of that didn't require him to be nice and he was surprised he didn't pick it first, bouncer. He went into the seediest tavern he could find knowing there would be lots of fights and stupidly thinking he'd get lots of money for protecting it even if it was a poor place. He got the fights and didn't get the money he wanted and easily slipped into a group of idiots.

These fools were a small gang of about twelve idiots who loved fighting and causing some mischief. While in this group they completed enough things to get noticed by the Guard. The little group was disbanded with a warning since though they liked getting into fights it was normally with each other and all their little pranks were childish and no one was truly effected by their immaturity. Everyone of that group continued to do what they did before a short while later. Everyone but Delvin. Delvin had been awed by the Guard and by the power they held. He now had a dream to become a member and the only thing that stopped him was the fact that he really couldn't use a weapon.

After that revelation he searched trying to find out a weapon so he could learn enough and join the Guards. He fell in love with the hammer and during his life as a bouncer he was able to gain some mastery of the weapon on the many drunken fools and their buddies. It now wasn't about the money but about the experience the job offered. He kept to the fighting and when he felt he was good enough he left to go join the Guard.

It seems Fate had other plans and on his walk there he ran into a problem in the Downtown district. A large fight was happening and the Guard was trying to stop it. Feeling great and ready to help his future comrades Delvin ran in brandishing his hammer. In his mind he pictured a savior descending upon the criminals but to a Guard at the edge of the scuffle he saw another ruffian and with a chop of his mace he shattered Delvin's knee.

Delvin wasn't completely crippled as he was rushed to a doctor by someone who knew him and was able to get together and bring him over though no one had the skill to save such a grievous injury. During his healing Delvin secluded himself from the rest of the world and basked in his anger. The only time he stepped out was to eat. He had an almost palpable cloud of anger about him and a crazy twinkle in his eyes. The time all by himself had effected him in a way no one could imagine. He was now angry with himself and life and since he would talk to no one he had talked to himself. No one would go close to him so when he lost his job since he couldn't do much with his messed up leg he was a pitiful husk of the person he once was.

He tried one day to steal from a blacksmith yet the giant man caught him in the act and threatened to call the Guard. The reaction Delvin gave was one the Blacksmith didn't expect, acceptance and a tinge of depression. He lost his bluster quickly and took the young Delvin up and said he would make him work for what he had done. Delvin couldn't do anything about it so he grudgingly became the apprentice of the blacksmith. Though he expected the to hate the two months as a blacksmith he found that the making of the metal calmed him down and that he was actually good at it.

He joined the blacksmith who had now befriended the crazy youth and they became a blacksmith duo. The blacksmith didn't just pass down crafting skills he also taught Delvin other things. Though Delvin was already rude and partially racist he became a full fledged one. He learned about the homo elves and crazy ass version of dwarves called gnomes. Delvin accepted it all and he believed every bit of the bias stories he was told. They both seemed to be two peas in a pod and life was pretty good for a long time.

When Delvin reached the age of twenty-eight and he was now a blacksmith of some skill his mentor thought it time to teach him one last trick. Delvin was surprised as he watched his first magical crafting. It had awed and humbled him at the same time. He wasn't very quick on the pick up and it took him more than a year to learn the basic skill he has now which greatly disappointed his teacher who had thought Delvin could be a better mage smith but he just didn't possess a great magical skill. Though his skill wasn't great he continued with it getting permission from the Judges.

After Delvin learned all he could his teacher gave him the only thing he could now. The smithy. The man was old and he was tired of being a smith and he wanted a quieter life so he left it with Delvin who had been a son to him. Delvin took it happily and he set about to make his friend proud and be the best smith he could be. Trying to reach that goal is what made him mostly deaf and gave him the muscles he holds now.

Living Establishments-The one thing Delvin hadn't been taught was business and he wasn't very rich so he found he couldn't afford a house and that he was only just making payments on his tavern room so something needed to be done fast. He tried making business go faster but that didn't work so he went about asking the tavern owner if there was anything he could do and they reached and agreement. Delvin could have a room and all the meals and drinks he needed if he would fix everything that needed fixing.

It looks good although it could use a proof read to fix some mistakes.

It doesn't say where the smithy is. I can guess that you mean it's in Marn because you mention the guard, but it doesn't actually say where he grew up.
