Temple Haunting

It was a few months after she'd been left. She didn't like to think of it as being deserted, because he had been a good person. Maybe not to him victims, but to the werewolf he was kinder than most humans she'd known. She actually still wasn't sure about how human he was--the underlying scent was there, but it was covered by other smells, like a god-blessing.

Everything had a smell, though humans didn't tend to think so. But even emotions smelled certain ways--she could tell if someone was sad, or angry, or in love. Certain scents hung over places as well, and not just in physical forms. Justice Hall in the center of Marn smelled like power and fear, magic and pain. She didn't like that place, and the wolf almost took over when she had to walk past it. But this place...

She was back at the temple. She'd been... abandoned here a few months prior, and though she'd set off with another master for a few days, he'd left her too. So she'd come back, and made the ruins her home.

The moonlight was waning. She'd haunted the temple remains like a ghost, which scared the cityfolk away. The guard hadn't been called yet about the howling, but Gia knew it was likely only a matter of time. She stayed though, because there was a chance. A chance that he might come back, the first one who at least pretended to understand her. And he'd said she could be helpful to him. That's all she'd ever wanted--the werewolf was really quite easy to please.

So you wait, you silly human. Gia groaned to herself. The wolf always had something to say. She shoved the alter-ego from her mind and slumped down behind a pew in the temple. It made as good of a bed as any.
