by Alter Corin
Name: Alter Corin

Age: 30

Height: 6'1”

Weight: 155 lbs.

Race: Seduttore: The Seduttores are an offshoot from the rest of the Shifters. Rather than changing into some form of animal, they are limited to changing their human qualities. Things like hair, skin, and eye color, as well as facial and body structure for the more gifted Seduttores. However, this ability is not without its' cost. Their metabolisms are faster than any human's. And the more they use their power, the faster it works. This causes a large need for nutrients, which makes long term sustaining of a shape difficult. It also increases the effect of silver on their bodies, as it spreads through their systems faster, causing the burns to become more prevalent and taking longer to heal. The metabolism also shortens their lifespans from their shifter brethren, to somewhere between ninety and one-hundred-twenty years.

Physical Description: Alter's natural form is a thirty year old human with golden blond hair, which he usually keeps at shoulder level. His skin is pale to the point of standing out. Small, brown freckles grace the regions of his cheeks and the bridge of his nose. His eyes are a deep green with flecks of gold hidden in the emerald pools. He is a rather tall, though not exorbitantly so, at six foot one. His frame is relatively slender for his height, and gives the appearance of being underfed. Alter usually indulges in his vanity and wears expensive, extravagant clothes, with deep blues and reds the most common colors to grace his body. These clothes also have a tendency to be rather loose fitting, as to not hinder his Shifting, and allow him freedom of movement.

Possessions: Alter's most prized possession is his ancestral dagger, named Seeker. It has a slightly curved hilt fashioned out of gold, with three large rubies embedded on one side, and sapphires in the other. The blade is made of Damascus Steel, and thus is a perfect blend of strength and sharpness. He also carries with him a crimson cloak with his family crest, a Raven holding a Sword, stitched into both the breast and on the back. The only other possessions he carries with him on a regular basis are a small book with a golden cover he uses for notes on his expenses and general ideas, and a small buckler he uses for defense.

Powers or Strengths: Alter is blessed with a very quick mind, making plans and schemes is something he was always gifted at. As a child, he caused his parents huge amounts of grief with his mischievous plans. He has a nimble tongue and can talk his way out of almost any situation, which is a good thing, because the sheer number and audacity of his plans often lead into trouble. Years on the street, after running away from home, made him a skilled thief and fairly adept at using his dagger, Seeker. As he grew older, his Shifting powers became more powerful, until he could imitate the appearance of any human or elf, and with a large strain on himself, most dwarves and gnomes. Coupled with his intelligence, this has resulted in an ability to impersonate almost anyone.

Weaknesses: He has trouble caring for anyone other than himself, and often succumbs to Vanity, Arrogance, and Greed. He often overlooks small details, and is often brought down by the “devil in the details”. He also has a little bit of trouble remembering the lies he has told, as he often makes them up on the spot. Because of this, he has to write most of them down in the notebook he carries with him. His arrogance also makes him underestimate those around him, which is a downfall to many of his plans. He often becomes bored with long-term plans, and slips up because of it. He lacks a true sense of purpose beyond himself, and often is stuck beneath procrastination. Although Alter can change his outer appearance to fit most people, he has a few unique features that he cannot change. These include a red birth mark on his left ankle, a scar left from a silver dagger on his right arm, and two small scars, one on either hand. To an astute observer, these can end impersonations.

History: Alter Corin was born to Sam and Sasha Corin. The couple lived and worked in a camp of performers that traveled the world, putting on shows in towns for money. Their natural talents as Seduttores made them useful, being able to provide the appearance of having many more people than there actually were.

As a young boy, Alter was given chores like everyone else in the camp. That was where his devious nature began to manifest. He constantly tried to get out of his chores, or trade them off on others. His parents constantly had to scold him for this, which put a distance between them.

Due to that distance, the young Alter often wandered off throughout the towns they visited. Sometime after he turned nine, he learned that he could get away with a lot in the towns, as no one knew who he was. He started small, stealing candy and food from street vendors. But it escalated, and by his eleventh birthday, he was stealing money and other valuables.

At the age of thirteen, his powers began to show, and his Father told him of the Corin line, who had once ruled over a modest fiefdom, but eventually had been chased out of the land when it was learned of their heritage, and had joined a group of other Seduttores known as the Scoundrels of the Moon. He learned that his own Father and Mother had lived with them as children, and had contributed to the group by pick pocketing. His Father also handed down the last remnant of their fortune from the Fiefdom, Seeker, a brilliantly made dagger.

Inspired by his Father's tale, Alter stole away from the camp and wandered about the world, stealing to make a living, and using a combination of his still developing Shifting abilities and his silver tongue to get out of trouble.

When he turned twenty, he found the Scoundrels of the Moon. The elder recognized Seeker, and allowed Alter to join their ranks. For the next eight years, he traveled with them, learning what he could from the other Scoundrels. They taught him how to imitate other people's mannerisms, and how to hide his own. Later on, he learned that the different powers of the world were secretly hiring some of the Scoundrels as spies or, in rare cases, doppelgangers of public officials. He begged the Elder for a chance to try one of these for himself, as the pay off was larger than on other jobs. The Elder grudgingly agreed and he was given his first assignment.

Alter was hired to impersonate Miran Slaski, a prominent judge in the town of Veloria. He kept the act up for a few months, taking secret orders from his employers on how certain cases should be decided. But, eventually, he made a slip up to one of Miran's relatives and was locked away in the town jail for a year, before he finally escaped by tricking one of the guards during a span of manual labor.

Alter now makes his way around the world, choosing to abandon the Scoundrels, like they abandoned him when he was caught. He takes on private contracts for different groups, but is much more careful. He also does jobs for himself, stealing what he wants and living a rather care-free life as he drifts about.
