Alexander Kai

Player Name: Alexander
Name: Alexander Kai
Age: 25
Race: Human
Physical: Alexander Kai is six feet tall. He's a fairly normal build, not skinny, but not overly strong either. He does get rather winded occasionally. But that has more to do with his asthma than lack of physical endurance. His hair is short, red and spiky. Usually kept above his head like a set of flames. His eyes burn with the same color. He wears a blue fire-resistant scarf, a gift from an old friend, a white sleeveless shirt, and black pants that are prone to flowing in the wind, as they are wide at the bottom, almost like a dress.
Possessions: Alexander Kai carries a shorter version of a claymore that he himself has reforged. The sword is honed to a very specific sharpness, it can cut through bone almost like a knife through hot butter with only a little bit of force. He also wears a set of silver bracers with gold lining. The gold lining is ornamental, but the silver is reinforced with other metals, giving him the ability to use it to block blows with his fore arms. Beyond his primary sword he also carries a second sabre, that is made of silver, and two steel throwing daggers, as well as another dagger on the back of his belt designed for parrying.
Powers: Alexander Kai is well skilled with the sword, as he studied for years under Master Swordsmen Cyrus Theron. He also has combat abilities that involve being able to control the local environment, using bolts of lightning, and creating a spear of pure darkness that is stronger than the strongest steel (as long as his will power holds). It takes a moment to actually create the spear, and requires a significant amount of his attention. Once formed he holds it in his hand. It is extremely sharp, as his mind is what creates the shape, and the spear can cut as easily as steel. Alexander is also an accomplished liar, but those who know him can see through him quite easily.
Weaknesses: Alexander has a bad habit of drawing in friends who don't know how to be subtle when he's telling a lie, as a result they will randomly blurt out a fact that can blow his own cover unless it’s handled well. The few magical abilities he has are bound by the laws of logic (he can't make it rain in the middle of a desert, there needs to be water there.....you get the idea). All of his abilities are extremely taxing on his physical state except for the lightning, he can really only use them once per day. He can use the lightning at most times, but it becomes more and more weaker the more he uses it. The lightning cannot kill however, it can usually only stun, and it must hit his opponent in a place where the electricity is not grounded (leather is a bit of an insulator, metal conducts. so yea)
Alexander’s other problem is strategy. He likes to be in a situation where he doesn’t just win by a margin, but he has to win completely and in ultimate power. If he is facing an opponent that he perceives to be a good match against him, he has to beat that opponent in a way where it is quite clear who won, and where there are more than a few “what if’s” regarding the win. The only time he forgoes this is if he becomes frustrated at his own failures, such actions can make him impulsive, and at that point he will begin acting simply on intuition. When he does so, he thinks he is being unpredictable, but he really isn’t, as even his subconscious follows a logical pattern of movements and ideas
History: Alexander Kai grew up in lands that were a bit north and east of Marn. He studied under Cyrus Theron, a sword master whose art had a specific philosophy to it. The philosophy was one of evil. Of controling people and ruling them with an iron fist. "Always be feared" his master told him. "Better to be feared than to be loved, but you should be bother feared and loved." Alexander always took this to heart. He learned never to make idle threats, and to always follow through on a threat right away, to prove that he didn't mess around. He was a very practical man, either he did things or he didn't do them. But it wasn't always like this.
---
When he was 18 a particular evil reached out for him and took over him. Before he could regain himself he killed his mother, father and brother. Upon re-discovering himself, he learned of what he did, and ran far to the north and west. He eventually found men in white robes, who were doing a different kind of magic. They showed him the earth, and the weather, but they were also unaware of the darkness within him, and their teachings only fed it. Eventually he wound up killing them too. Leaving behind a particular henge of stone and all of their teachings. He buried the bodies in burial mounds and continued to wander the lands. A year went by, and he finally found his way to Marn. Where he was about to use magic one day but was stopped by Cyrus. Cyrus, took him into his home, and explained that magic was banned in Marn, but that Alexander could make up for it by being an excellent swordsman. Cyrus taught Alexander his philosophy on life, and how to use his sword well. Eventually Cyrus let the man go, and he went into the world on his own, to figure out what to do with the darkness that festered within him.

That of course, was his first life, he has had others, but this is the one he remembers the most. Alexander is actually being controlled his own higher self on the astral plane, and names himself Merge. Merge’s purpose is to use light and fire to show the evil in all things, to help manifest truth. Merge is guiding Alexander into a situation where Alexander thinks what he is doing is evil, but where Alexander discovers that what he is doing is truly good. If Merge ever had a change to manifest himself, it would be as a phoenix, a being of fire and light, showing shadow, yet only able to be in a certain place at a time, thus, where the light was the darkness was not.
Alexander does not realize that Merge is really his higher self on the astral plane. He really is a puppet specifically for manipulation, and he himself is also being manipulated. Merge understands that even fire and light can be manipulated and he wants to know all the factors that are involved (with humanity of course) in comprehending both light and dark, and to learn every aspect of manipulation, this of course means knowing both sides, being and doing the manipulation(ed).
Of course, in his quest to learn he will undoubtedly bump into others with similar pursuits of a third kind…….
