Player Name: Trevor Jones
Name: Rethath
Age: 6
Race: Lizardyte
Height: 3 feet 5 inches
Weight: 4 Stone (approx.)
Physical Description:
Lizardytes resemble large lizards that stand upon their hind-legs, they have long thick tails to aid with balance when running and well developed legs muscles for the same purpose. Normally their skin colour is green and of a scaled texture, although the colour can change depending upon the job of the Lizardyte. Lizardytes have 4 limbs, two legs with a 5 toed foot, 4 of the toes are at the front of the foot and one at the back, there are claws instead of nails at the end of the toes. The other 2 limbs are arms and are basically a Lizard version of human arms, even including opposable thumbs, but again there are claws instead of nails on the fingers. Lizardytes also see no purpose for clothes, thus many of them remain naked barring various items of apparel that aid in gathering of food and supplies. Rethath is no different, he wears a belt and an odd crystalline device on his right arm.
Possessions:
Rethath owns very little, his race are capable of eating almost anything having a very powerful digestive system, thus he does not need to carry food, being new to this area he also does not possess any of the local currency. On his belt he has a few pouches that contain simple medicinal herbs for numbing pain or aiding healing. He also possesses a Karst tool on his arm, Karst is a versatile crystalline material.
Powers or Strengths:
Most Lizardytes posses an acid spit, the range and effectiveness of this spit vary from one Lizardyte to another, some cannot spit at all, some can spit a great distance (as much as 20 meters), and again with some the spit is of a very low acid that would have little effect and others the spit would be very strong and thus melt many materials. Rethath has low range (roughly 5 meters) and medium effectiveness, in other words he could blind a human at close range, if the target did not wash the spit out quickly this blindness would be permanent without magical intervention, cloth would disintigrate very quickly, wood is unaffected and metal does melt, but it is slow, skin would burn and cause pain, but like metal it would be slow. In addition Lizardytes are immune to their own spit and various other acids.
Rethath's Karst device is a translator mainly, his race is unable to produce the range of speech that that other races can, thus in his task as a long-range scout he was supplied with the Karst translator, he has been informed that it might perform other functions, but not what those functions are or how to activate them.
Lizardytes are also capable of spending long periods underwater, possessing senses that allow them to not only travel easily but hunt better underwater than on land.
Weaknesses: Rethath is small and light and that in itself is a weakness, he is also not very strong being physically weaker than a human child of the same height and weight. Rethath is also not aware of customs and laws that exist in this land. A lizardytes average life span is also relatively short, usually 40 years maximum (The only difference to this is the Queen who can live up to 120 years and also possesses perfect genetic memory from her parents)
History:
Racial: The Lizardyte race is a very different race to any other, most Lizardyes are born with a specific purpose and then mature very quickly (1-2 years), they then follow that purpose for the reast of their lives, due to genetic memory they do not learn anything new or perform any other function, however the higher the Lizardytes purpose, the more they are capable of learning and adapting, this is significant for the Queen (the highest authority of a Lizardyte Colony), the Breeders (a collection of female Lizardytes who spend most of their time....breeding, they need higher though functions ot be able to breed different kinds of Lizardyte), Shapers (the engineers and scientists of the Lizardytes, they also research the Karst when needed to find new functions for it) and Scout Masters (they need higher thought in order to perform better when away from the colony for long periods).
The Lizardyte race hails only from the southern part of the large Eastern continent known as Tzalzochitl, thus is hidden away from the eyes of civilisation. They survive very well in the dense trees and humid conditions that cover most of that continent thus several colonies can be found (or not due to being well hidden), there are in fact almost 50 colonies and even more outposts spread through the immense rainforest. This region is shared by no other "civilised" people thus Lizardytes know nothing about the other races that exist upon the world.
Personal:
Rethath began his life as a normal Scout for the Jeruthi Colony. After his initial stage of maturing, a very brief stretch of a year and a half Rethath took on his birth role of being a scout. The Jeruthi Colony was located at the Northern end of the continent and on the coast, it was due to this that Rethath found evidence of their being another civilisation on the planet. It was during a bright morning that he discovered the remains of a large object made of wood, it was obvious that the wood had not grown, some unknown craft had fashioned it into several thin planks and somehow sculpted it.
Unfortunately the purpose of the wood was unknown, there was too little of it to even guess at it's purpose, there was however an odd being laying upon the wood it was no longer alive and had been partially eaten by sea creatures and birds. The remains were taken back to the colony for study by the Shapers, in return for finding this evidence he was tasked with finding the source of this new creature, to aid him in this Rethath was granted the Karst translation device, which had the unexpected side-effect of upgrading his brain, giving him stronger power of thought.
Rethath was asked by his queen to explore further afield and find out about these other people from across the sea. What was not expected was the strong currents that not only swept Rethath off course, but also left him uncertain as to which way was home. After several days of swimming with the current and hunting or avoiding being hunted Rethath found himself on a beach in an unknown land.
This new land confused Rethath, for it was most certainly cooler than what he was used to and had far less trees, also many of the animals were different too, but no less tasty. Rethath spent most of his first few days exploring his immediate surrounding, he found little evidence of the area being used by the same creature that had washed up on his native peoples shores. Rethath decided to head north, it was noticably colder as he travelled and the local flora changed greatly, in his own land of Tzalzochitl plants and trees did not vary greatly, although the animals did. Not knowing what to expect Rethath did his best to avoid being seen by any of the native race, this proved relatively easy, his size, speed and sense helped him avoid notice of other and where possible he kept to water, travelling through rivers and small lakes. Although he had the translator his initial task was to find out what it was that lived here, but not to communicate.
Rethath moved across the country, finding it to be quite large and thus without a local colony to report to impossible to map, he also had several close calls, usually resulting in screams from some or shouts of anger from others, however Rethath's translator obviously needed time to adjust, or did not work as Rethath was not able to understand anything said by anyone....not that anyone really tried to talk to him, he'd not experienced fear or hatred before, thus the reactions he was getting from these people worried him, until he met a creature roughly his size, strangely also hiding apparantly from the taller people.
This creature did not scream, or shout, but merely stared at him then his translator, the creature then started gabbling away quite excitedly gesturing at him and his translator, the device started to glow during this exchange, pulsing and as it did Rethath's head hurt briefly until finally the odd gabbling started to make sense, slowly at first some words became obvious then other words, the speech was fast though.
"Slow down" Rethath said, this made the creature jump, "You can speak?" it replied.
"I have always been able to speak, my Karst Translator has allowed me to understand you and be understood by you....errr....what are you?" Rethath explained and then asked.
"I am a Gnome, Klomkrith Hargeth by name, inventor by trade....Karst huh? what is that and what are you as you asked me?" the creature....Gnome responded.
"I am a Lizardyte, Rethath by name and Scout by trade, I hail from Tzalzochitl far across the sea, Karst is the material we use to build stuff, it is very useful I do not know how your people manage without it."
The two continued to talk, all the while the translator glowed, perhaps indicating that it was active, the Gnome inventor explained that he was from a place claled Marn, he had travelled to another villiage to take a look at a Gnomish invention that they were using, however he was unable to fix the device to their satisfaction resulting in a large number of that villiage deciding to try to take his head, apparantly Gnomes were not well accepted when their inventions didn't work properly, unfortunately although powerful Gnomish devices rarely worked as expected.
Klomkrith agreed to take Rethath to his home on the outskirts of Marn, he was very interested in the Karst although he suspected that he could not do anything with it, it had no apprant parts and must be purely magic.
