Availability: Possibly open. Ask first.

Posting Speed: Every other day. No more than 4 days wait.

Characters Involved: Chrishton Radu, Dorcas Tansy, Taal, Cervantes, Jasmina Apsara

Location: Industrial District introduction - http://www.tharshaddin.com/rp/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=893
Dorcas' Place - http://www.tharshaddin.com/rp/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1627
Cervantes and Jasmina - http://www.tharshaddin.com/rp/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1836

Summary: After successfully escaping imprisonment and torture by the Judges with the help of the mysterious stranger Kamar, Chrishton seeks a refuge to hide from the guard. Dorcas Tansy encounters him by chance and offers to shelter her old friend at the rather irregular and run down inn and brothel where she has been working.
Kamar mysteriously vanishes during the night, and the next day, while enjoying a peaceful bath at Dorcas' place, Chrishton is told that he must leave Marn, forget about his mission there for the time being, and travel to Keltaris to save his son. After some convincing, Dorcas agrees to go with Chrishton on the journey in the hope of finding a better home in Keltaris, and leaves her new family behind.

Other Notes: This plotline has branched off from Hunting Lanya.

As I said in PM to Coward, the onus is on you to provide some details about how he'd enter this crazy assed place of yours Ming. You've obviously worked out a lot of the setting in your head and I don't feel comfortable laying the stage for someone to enter.

If finding a reason to enter that run down place is too hard though, Chrishton will most definitely attract attention the moment he leaves. Presumably by mugging someone.

Ooh, first off, just to clarify, the "older woman" who made the joke about Udorl is Davrib. Davrib is crass and old, the plump woman is trying to be pleasant. It doesn't really make much difference if you got them confused in the post, but just to clarify for future reference.

Okay, and to kill two birds in one post, here's how I suggest anyone who wants to enter should do so. There is only one PC occupant of the house, which is Dorcas--fifteen-year-old wayward child. Then it's basically a bar/whorehouse, with functionality as an inn, and highly negotiable rates

It's on the outskirts of the industrial district, so not right in the flow of commercial traffic, but also one of the only public houses in its neighborhood, so it's not unreasonable for characters to visit the little place. If asked, they also have rooms and "casual" women--these women are sort of specialized, and likely have several regulars. These are all NPCs, and so although I have vague stories for each of them, they basically exist to help plotline along as needed and I'm not averse to other people writing for them.

Specifically for Samahazi: he's from Turkey! This is convenient, because two of the NPCs are from that region--Davrib is basically from the area we call Turkey, and Udorl is from Armenia. He might have met either of them already outside and made acquaintances because of their shared ethnicity; he might have been told where he can find some other citizens from his area; something like that. He could always drop in for a visit before Chris and Dorcas leave the place, if you want to enter their plot.

If you don't enter their plot, there are always NPCs hanging around for your entertainment, and whom I'm willing to use to help your plot along, if you want.

I'm going to post the NPCs in the NPC forum now!

Oh hey! Okay, so I would have gotten on this sooner, but my electricity (thus modem) got cut off for a day and a half because Communism-->Bureaucracy-->Clerical errors (I'm currently residing in China). I really like your method of entry into the establishment, and the post itself is quite good, but I'm also afraid it might have been a little hasty. If you read the thread thus far, you'll find Kenny--the boy who is usually at the bar--is absent this morning.

Also--and I am sorry to say this right after saying the NPCs are open to play--it's my preference that if I am writing a particular NPC actively in a scene (as Davrib is in conversation with Chris), people check first before writing the NPC themselves. This is just because it can get messy having two people writing one NPC at once. I'm not trying to discourage you from writing NPCs at all--I just want you to know that you don't need to worry about making your first post so full of action/dialogue. Often what we do here is, before entering a thread, confirm your gameplan for entrance with the people in the thread already for kosherness (in case of things like Kenny not being there).

Overall, though, I want to say I like the post. I'm going to wait for Frug on this.

Hm. I don't know how I missed who was talking to Chris. Again. I'll make the minor edit, but my post can be otherwise the same regardless of who made the comments to him.

With regards to using NPCs that have been established by other players, you should ask before taking control of an established NPC lest you use him in a way that doesn't agree with his/her 'owner'. I know, for example, that Lylessa would bite my face of if I started using her family without asking.

I personally am fine with other people using the NPCs I have come up with, otherwise I feel they would just be PCs. So yeah, I guess I do consider myself sort of the ward of these NPCs, in that they live at Dorcas's house, but my only request as to playing them is that they not be used when already in the middle of being used by someone else.

In regards to Coward's post, though, I think the NPC use works fine. It gets Samahazi into the scene, and I don't want to ask him to rewrite it--except the part where he asks Kenny for a room, since he is not there. Per my request, though, after this post I'm going to continue to write for Davrib in this scene, particularly because my PC is out of the room at the moment, and also because it gives Samahazi a chance to interact with the other players instead of having to write his own two-way conversations. So yeah--I say keep the post as-is, except do something about the end with Kenny. If you scroll up a few posts, you'll find the people in the room at the moment are Udorl (the hot one), Flossie (the plump lady), Davrib (the old lady), and Chrishton (Otter has just exited as well).

So in the future, we should check with each other about the availability of NPCs in case we don't know the status of them.

Um, hooray for Communism, because this time my internet got randomly shut off. Of course this happened on a national holiday, so I can't even call to complain. Oh, but there is also no need for remedial customer service here because the market system isn't developed enough to have service be a big consideration in market competition, and also because nobody can sue anybody. So I certainly won't be compensated by my Chinese ISP for the wrongful interruption of service. Anyway, my point is, I am at an internet cafe right now! I'm pretty sure I can get the service fixed tomorrow, but there's a chance it won't be until Monday that I can resolve this--until things are fixed, I can only really do an hour online a day. Probably shouldn't affect my posting, but just in case it does, this is a heads up.

Your dedication is an inspiration to us all, MM.

I hear internet cafes are big down there, and there's some strict laws limiting how long you're allowed to actually play games like WoW, but the junkies just move from cafe to cafe. Anyway.

Thanks for the updates. I'll get to posting :P

In case there's any confusion, I believe the order is Dorcas, Chrishton, Samahazi. It's been your turn, Frug.

I apologize for the delay. I thought I'd posted and didn't realize how many days had passed. I guess I've been distracted what with graduating and all.

I won't hold up the thread again though. I'll post regularly until I can remove Chrishton from the thread, which I intend to do shortly (for reasons I would rather not get into here).

By the way Goeffrey, I'm not a stickler for posting order (or for auto hits for that matter) so if you get an urge to post out of order in a way that doesn't interfere too much with my characters, I don't mind.

Welp. I had a discussion about this and I won't be leaving the thread so soon after all unless in-character events dictate otherwise.

Er, please do not take my having missed a week as a signal to start missing weeks.
