Bonjour! I just joined today and have some questions.

First of all, this site looks VERY promising. And it's active! I am overjoyed to find such an interesting site that hasn't died! I love the layout, by the way.

Okay, I'm confused about the setting and/or time. When I found a description of this site on some list of forums, it said medieval, I think. I looked on here and couldn't find anything to make me certain, so I thought I'd ask. What is the time here, compared to Earth eras?

And this setting is so complex, I have to ask where I can roleplay as a vampire. I've created a new character for this site, I want to know whether to make her a vampire or not.

Overall, I'm really excited to start roleplaying here, so if there's a place I can jump in, please let me know.. I've done a lot of freeform roleplaying in the past... *counts on fingers* five years, and it's hard to find anywhere to roleplay that's interesting.

Lluvy is not my real name, but it's going to be the name of my new char, because I thought it was different and pretty.

No vampires to start off with please.

Technology combines elements of Middle Ages and Rennaisance, with some anomolies. Theoretical science is dead - because studying the natural laws of the universe is rather silly when the rules are frequently broken by magic. So the result is technology never quite developed or spread the same way.

Gnomish inventions create technology through magic - the results are unreliable and prone to exploding, but are more or less functional.

Make sure to read the Setting and Rules pages. They will be very useful for you.

Welcome, welcome indeed! Vampires - I dunno. Fruggles will be able to make that call. We try to discourage vampires and encourage other races, like humans. Humans are great.

The majority of the setting is just Marn and Shim, but there's Pal Tahrenor for all your non-local needs

No vampires for now please. There is always the chance of becoming one, but you'll have to find one to do that.

Hiya, can't offer any more help than has already been given. Welcome to our extremely (happy Jen?) neurotic world. I'm sure you'll fit right in and everyone here is generally very accepting, even the mods/admins (they just like to pick on one another....and all of us too). Ok well, I'm about done, but just so you know I'm also Angren Paur, in case we talk in the future.

Thanks for all the info and guidance. Pretty poopy about the vampires, though, if I may express my disappointment. Vampires= life. That makes no sense, but they're all I live for, lol. My vampires aren't very fierce, more romantic and tragical. If that's a word.

I don't have much experience roleplaying werewolves, and it's been FOREVER since I roleplayed a demon, so I'm pretty much left with human, since I haven't really read or wrote anything about the other races. I shall have to go dig around in search of my human characters. Might have to change some stuff, think about it a while. If you don't hear from me within a few days, I'll be thinking. Or forgetting to, lol. I do that a lot.

I am an active member on another site, so I don't know if that'll be a problem or not, I'm not usually on more than one rp site at a time, but whatevs.

It doesn't matter if you're active on 250 sites, so long as you remain active and not vanish. Vanishing = EXECUTION!!!

TO ALL NEWCOMERS:

Myself and Maara (also a newcomer) have started up a thread.
Two half-demons.
We have no clue where this is going and it is currently open, as far as I know.
If you would like to join, just look for Demon Spawn OOC in Plot Discussion.
If Maara wants to keep this small and slow, that's up to her though.
Also, Frug seems to have an Ace up his sleeve for all newcomers that want to be part of an actual Thar event. Knowing him it will be something that becomes part of Thar's history and lineage. Give both a look and see what you would like to do.
If neither sounds great and awesome and wonderful (then read our Demon Spawn again!) then you could always start up your own with some fellow newcomers.

My single recommendation to becoming an active member in chat. You will soon see and converse with all the greatest of Thar. Also, this will help you get better acquainted with everyone and talk about the open threads.
