Dragoncon?

Does anyone here know about dragoncon and is anyone planning on attending this event?
From their website:
Dragon*Con is the largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the US.
http://www.dragoncon.org/
I don't generally go to conventions and since I don't live anywhere near Atlanta I won't be going to this, but considering the description of the event I would go if it was here, just to promote pbp forum games.
There will be a couple of people from the simming league there (
http://www.simmingleague.com ) although they are all sci-fi (star trek specifically) simmers as far as I know.

Illilli's player goes to this annually if I'm not mistaken. She loves it!

I was going to attend it last year but got screwed into deployment. I hadn't even thought about it this year. Might go. Atlanta aint but 2 hours away... It's pretty cool from what I hear. 3 of the civilian contractors that work for us, pretty geeky WoW players but hot, said they were either going to do a WoW theme or Final Fantasy theme, and I asked what they were talking about. They said " Were either going to dress up as Night Elves from WoW, or the coolest females from FF. They did FF...Wish I was there to see that one.

Well you should go and say hello to the simming league guys. I don't think they'll have a booth but I know they're going to represent pbp gaming somehow or other. If I was going I'd make some bookmarks or stickers and give em to people in the literature section.

This will be my 4th year at Dragon*con. Anything Gaming, Sci-Fi, and Fantasy can pretty much be found out there. My husband likes to go dressed as Usagi-Yojimbo.
Lotsa fun. I reccommend going to it if it is comfortable affordable. (We drive what feels like a day just to get out of Texas, and then another 8 hours to get to Atlanta Lol but its soo worth it)
When you get a look at the track books and scheduled events, its not a matter of finding something to do, but to figure out what you want to give up to go do something else equally cool. (I don't know if that made much sense...) Book Readings, Costume contests, how-to's, discussion panels...
Usually they have a nice spread of "Captive Stars" you can go buy autographs from (I got one from Lori Petti "Tank Girl" last year), or Authors to sign your books, as well as awesome costumes roaming around. The shopping is Uber-Geek-tastic. Collectibles, shirts, costumes, games, books are just a start.
They have a dedicated Gaming hall and workshops etc. Pretty nice set-up. Dragon*Con TV is also fantastic to watch as you ice down your feet from all the walking/standing/stair climbing.

Technically I could go since it's only 3 hours away but I have NO ONE to go with me
Oh well. I need to save money anyway.

Salvatore was one of my first favorite authors. I read like 10 of his dark elf books. I dunno how high a regard I hold him in now though. I went back and started to re-read the 4th book (which was the first one he wrote I think) and it... wasn't that great...
He's also responsible for all the Dirzzts out there. *shakes fist* They're nearly as prominent as gokus and clouds *shakes his other fist*

Are you serious?
Fine I'm gonna be Wulfgar...I'll carry a big ass mace and throw it at you and have it magically appear in my hand.. I'll talk like a dwarf and get all moody for like 15 years...
So someone actually thought they could pretend to be Drizzt? That's the people who scare me.
Jenica and her blood sucking-ness? Nah, its her nature.
Someone who wants to be the stereotypical.." I'm not a bad guy, I just look like one" that's what bothers me.. Who would want to be a stereotype?

... not to nit-pick (which is in fact exactly what I'm going to do anyway) ...
Wulfgar used a warhammer. Not a mace. Warhammer. Flatter and blunter. Mace. Round and occasionally pointy.
Ask Rail. He'll tell you.
Yes, I read them all. And now for some reason, I'm watching Grey's Anatomy. I blame Jen. (My Jen. She's the opposite of Jenica.)
