What's your sig from?

A couple of people have asked and I know I'm curious about y'all's, so here goes. Where is your signature from? I yanked 2 of mine from songs and 1 from a book.

Or are you clever and made it up yourself? WELL AREN'T YOU JUST SPECIAL!!! :)

Anyway:

Jen's: Fountain of blood in the shape of a girl.

This is an opening song lyric ganked from Bjork's "Bachelorette." Full lyrics:

I'm a fountain of blood
In the shape of a girl
You're the bird on the brim
Hypnotised by the Whirl

Drink me, make me feel real
Wet your beak in the stream
Game we're playing is life
Love is a two way dream

Leave me now, return tonight
Tide will show you the way
If you forget my name
You will go astray
Like a killer whale
Trapped in a bay

I'm a path of cinders
Burning under your feet
You're the one who walks me
I'm your one way street

I'm a whisper in water
Secret for you to hear
You are the one who grows distant
When I beckon you near

Leave me now, return tonight
The tide will show you the way
If you forget my name
You will go astray
Like a killer whale
Trapped in a bay

I'm a tree that grows hearts
One for each that you take
You're the intruder hand
I'm the branch that you break
Hum-yeah!
** Icelandic part **

There's a video out there, too. If you've ever seen any of Bjork's videos you can already assume it's weird.

I chose the quote because dude...that's what she is. She ends up bleeding a lot in pretty much every thread she's in. Awesome.

Lanya: I just changed her quote to something way more emo, but I think currently fits the character's sentiments.: You're wearing your anguish again.

This is from the song "I don't wanna wait" by Paula Cole. No I've never seen Dawson's Creek; I heard it on the radio and thought it was pretty. It wasn't ruined when I heard it was from Dawson's Creek because if you listen to the actual words of the song it's kinda depressing. The character is telling her husband that she wants to make a connection with him again...and he's become so distant it ain't happenin'.

I chose the lyric for Lanya because I think it's a powerful moment - the realization that someone's misery has become so prominent that it's visibly draping on them like clothing. Lan will never become the depressive loner (God willing), but she's had it so rough lately that it will be hard for her to avoid showing some private pain every now and then.

Full lyrics:

So open up your morning light
And say a little prayer for I
You know that if we are to stay alive
And see the peace in every eye

She had two babies
One was six months one was three
In the war of '44
Every telephone ring
Every heartbeat stinging
When she thought it was God calling her
Oh would her son grow to know his father

CHORUS:

I don't want to wait
For our lives to be over
I want to know right know
What will it be
I don't want to wait
For our lives to be over
Will it be yes or will it be
Sorry

He showed up all wet
On the rainy front step
Wearing shrapnel in his skin
And the war he saw
Lives inside him still
It's so hard to be gentle and warm
The years passed by and now
He has granddaughters

Chorus

Oh so you look at me
From across the room
You're wearing your anguish again
Believe me, I know the feeling
It sucks you into the jaws of anger
Oh, so dig a little more deeply, my love
All we have is this very moment
And I don't want to do what
His father and his father and his father did
I want to be here now

So open up your morning light
And say a little prayer for I
You know that if we are to stay alive
And see the peace in every eye

Chorus (2 times)

So open up your morning light
And say a little prayer for I
You know that if we are to stay alive
And see warmth in every eye

Finally, Geldenwing:
“Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry,” says Coyote.
“Okay,” said the Lone Ranger. “We believe you.”
“Hee-hee,” says Coyote. “Hee-hee.”

This is from a marvellous book called "Green Grass, Running Water" by Thomas King. This book had me in tears several times from laughing so hard; the quote I chose is when Coyote, the native American trickster, is apologizing for creating dog-turned-god-turned-GOD and starting the whole Christianity mess.

He obviously doesn't mean it.

"My faith protects me, my kevlar helps."

From Micheal Carpenter of the Dresden Files, a modern-day Knight of the Cross complete with holy sword. I think it displays the perfect paladin attitude - perceiving belief and pragmatism as supporting concepts rather than opposition.

"Everything I ever told you, even this, is a lie."

From Vampire The Masquerade - said by a staked vampire... who we all know can't talk. Know the rules, then have them broken in a small, insignificant, but ultimately profound way. Doubt is a powerful, destructive force, perfect for a blackguard.

I've been meaning to change Julen's sig for awhile now. His old one ("Not everyone can do great things/But everyone can do small things with great love") was just something I picked up somewhere. I liked it because it conveyed the passion that Julen felt toward all the small things in his life. It's a statement about how a person doesn't need to lead a life full of epic adventure in order to have a good, profound effect on the world.

However, thanks to Railtus/Aorle, it now sees that Julen WILL do great things, so old the quote doesn't fit so well. The one I chose to replace it is from G.K. Chesterton, and opens a Neil Gaiman book called "Coraline."

"Fairy tales are more than true
Not because they tell us that dragons exist
But because they tell us that dragons can be beaten"

I like this because Julen is always thinking back on the fairy tales his mother told him when he was young. And also because it reflects his new realization that he can do something to defeat the evil he encounters.

No offense intended to good dragons or their descendents!

Kamar: "You’re gonna find out you’re already dead, and I was the world coming down on your head."

It's from a song by Yellowcard called "Down on my Head".

Mavarion: "You have no where to hide, nowhere to run, your village will burn like the heart of the sun. With infinite glee, it is going to be me who slaughters your world."

It's from a song by a comic book character from a comic called "Looking For Group"

Chezak doesn't have one. Or at least, I can't remember...

My original It's better to die quick fighting on your feet than to live forever begging on your knees is from a Lamb of God song, can't remember which one though.

My current one is just some random quote from some random guy that I thought fit my character in more than one way.

To be honest mine came from a T-shirt that I seen on jinx clothing. Below is the tag that was along with it.

"This phrase was a favorite of Emperor Caligula and translates roughly into "Let them hate, as long as they fear." Put in J!NX terms, when you consistently destroy someone at [Insert Game Here], you're rarely going to show up on their buddy list. However, knowing that their anger is born from fear makes it all worth it."

So yeah, pretty cool...I think.

It's "Oderint Dum Metuant"

You know how you have to be friends with someone to feel comfortable telling them they have a piece of broccoli stuck in their teeth?

This was that kinda thing.

Wait... I have broccoli stuck in my teeth

*dies*

So it's not odorous dum mutants then?

ok, ok I admit it. I have been watching too many old movies based on slapstick comedy and misheard directions. Sorry Daq

All hail the dork nerd queen! :P

Actually since it's "oderint" and not "oberint," odorous dumb mutants fits even better.

I was correcting Devon's spelling not yours...

OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH

Well, then, that's much better. :D

Am considering changing my sig to a line from a favorite song:

"Things come too easy, I get suspicious.
Things come to slow, I get bored
If it don't work out, I get superstitious
But if it does, well...
Oh my word!"

I'll leave the author out to see if someone can recognize that WITHOUT googling it. :P

Isaac's quote comes from a movie I saw recently called "Mr. Nobody". The rest of the quote goes: "You have to make the right choice. As long as you don't choose, everything remains possible." I thought it suited him.

It's also in the trailer: http://vimeo.com/5001193
