Name: Asiona (az-ee-oh-na) Peterson
Age: 16
Race & Gender: Human Female
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 115 lbs
Appearance: Asiona has curly, golden-blonde hair down to her chin and green eyes flecked with gold. Her skin is tanned slightly and she has a few freckles by her nose. She wears simple dresses, no frills or lace, unless she's going to church. Then she has some lace on her collar and sleeves.
Occupation(s): Student at school, rogue mage
Combat
Spells memorized:
Swift: (Buff) muscle efficiency increases to 50%; adverse results: target becomes exhausted
Fire Skin: an Illusion spell; caster's body superficially radiates heat and feels scalding hot to the touch but doesn't actually burn
Reveal Nightmare: an Illusion spell; target of spell appears to be a monster
Haze of Dust: Element spell; a cloud of dust (dirt and/or sand) rises into the air to get in eyes and limit visibility
Charged-Wire Touch: an Element spell; the spellcaster's touch electrocutes, causing slight burns and muscle stiffness; immediate immobility until touch is withdrawn
Furnace: an Element spell; intense heat focused acutely, used to melt metal or incinerate wood, etc
Hide: an Illusion spell; target is undetectable with sight and smell; can still be heard
Desensitize: an Illusion spell; target cannot see, hear or feel
Spells in books:
Summoning: a Spirit spell; summons an entity from either an earthly or astral plane; targeting can be misdirected or spell can miss; a creature from the astral plane that is not channeled through all the way requires a bind spell to keep the corporeal form and partial spirit on Pal Tahrenor
Sleep: a Spirit spell; makes the target pass out into a deep-sleep
Bind: a Spirit spell; the spirit of the caster and the spirit of the target combines and results in sharing some thoughts and emotions; bind keeps an incompletely summoned, astral plane creature from diffusing back into the astral plane
Flaws: She has to cast unmemorized spells from the book. The spell may also fail, from either immunity on the part of the target or through her own mistake.
Belongings: A wand Asiona calls the "face-burn stick" or "pepper stick". It acts much like pepper spray, making the eyes and throat burn. Her mentor gave it to her. She also lives in a medium-sized house in the Residential District.
Characteristics
Personality: Asiona has a rebellious and stubborn nature. When she wants something she works ambitiously for it, and isn't one to adhere to rules. Figuring something out on her own is one of her favorite things to do, especially if involves decoding a spell out of a spellbook. She prefers to be silent most if not all of the time until the subject of magic or something else that excites her comes up. Then she becomes an unbearable chatterbox or pesters her companion with questions.
Her favorite subjects are spells, magical things and ways to use magic, mechanical things such as the gnomes make, and creatures and races unfamiliar to Thar Shaddin.
Aspirations: Learning new spells, to make magic legal in Thar Shaddin, and to be a great and renowned mage.
History: Asiona's father, Gavken, is a fairly wealthy merchant and supports his family well. They live in a medium-sized house fitting four people. Asiona's mother, Lissi, is a housewife and cares for Asiona and her older brother, Devlin. Asiona attends the school and her parents plan for her to become some sort of official. Asiona, on the other hand, desires nothing more than to rebel from the government and make magic legal. She got this aspiration from her mentor, whom she met one day while in the market. He was a much older man whose quiet but confident voice lured Asiona to his house time and again to discuss gnome engineering. During such conversations Mr. David let slip that he was a mage not registered with the government and was only one of a small group of such rebel mages. When Asiona greeted this with enthusiasm he began to teach her spells and loaned her spellbooks.
Only a few months later Mr. David left the cause and stopped practicing magic. He had finally caved in to his wife's wishes when she began threatening to leave him if he didn't leave the cause. This angered Asiona and she felt betrayed. She took a very ancient spellbook Mr. David had in his house and found a summoning spell in it. Imagining being able to summon whole armies to fight for magic freedom, a year after Mr. David's betrayal she went to an abandoned tower in the Historical District. There she attempted to try it out for the first time with only a small attempt at summoning a bunny. This went horribly wrong when the magic was redirected, and accidentally channeled a being from the astral plane. The being was an evil demon that fed off life and could have caused her harm. In the confusion, Lateus took advantage of her naivety and convinced her he was a good spirit and that he would be hurt if he went back. He also told her that he could help her. So then she casted the Bind spell, which kept his corporeal form here while some of his spirit was still in the astral plane. In order to keep him a secret she keeps him in the tower he was summoned in and brings him food when her parents are asleep.
Extra Important Info:
