Player Name: Matsu
Character Name: Narn
Age: 18
Race: Human
Height: 1,73 meters
Weight: 88kg
Physical Description:
Narn is an averagely tall man with short, busty black hair and a rather gaunt face. Although his belly appears to be free of fat, his muscles can remind of a blacksmiths apprentice leaving him quite heavy all the same. His eyesight is -5, so he wears glasses at all times, he could never quite agree with contacts. Though a spot grew at the exact point where the glasses rests on his small, rather flat nose, and it doesn't seem interested in dissappearing.
His clothes are as following. No hats, helmets of headbands. A dark green velvet coat with the shiny brownish buttons always buttoned up covers his plain pitch black shirt, this shirt is considerably too big for him. His pants are dark blue velvet, and though just a little short for him, exposing a little skin above his patternless dark green socks, they're spacy enough to flap loudly in the wind. His shoes are plain brown leather with grey laces. Not seen with other clothes for a year. His hygiene is thus questioned by friends and family. But his clothes do always look quite clean. Around his waist he's strapped a katana and it's red sleeve with the typical window-like design at the hilt and the top of the sleeve.
Posessions:
His posessions aren't much compared to a developed pedestrian, but somewhat unique. He's got his clothes; A green velvet coat with shiny brown buttons, a large, patternless, pitch black shirt, black velvet pants, a pair of pattnerless dark-green wool socks and finally a pair of brown leather shoes with grey laces.
He's also got a rather large sword, named "buster sword" by some, highly similar to that of Cloud Strife of Final Fantasy 7 and Zabuza of Naruto's sword. But it has no holes or any flashy features. Despite his "great" blacksmiths apprentice muscles, he can barely lift this sword of the ground, so he keeps it holed up in his home. He inherited this sword from his father, who apparantly died because the weight of the sword failed him at a critical moment.
He also has a regular katana, which his mother left him. Which her father left her. This is the one he carries around at all times. He does not leave it at home because there's no lock on the door, and a new one would be too expensive.
He's got a home in the eastern part of the residential district. There he has a wooden bed with a thin blanket and a normal matress, a small wooden table, two wooden chairs, two clay plates, two iron table knives, two iron table forks, a food basket, a window, a curtain and a door. The previously mentioned buster sword is under the bed. There's only one room.
He also has a hidden stash in the ruined tower in the historical district. Where he keeps a magicians cape, a green tophat with a blue star pattern and a dagger with a ruby put into its hilt. All items with magical properties, which he's not keen to show around Marn. And at last a half-rose half-kitten.
The half-rose half-kitten, "Miu", has almost the anatomy of a normal kitten but has a mane of rose-petals, thorny roots for legs (thus it can't move, it must be planted) and no eyes. It purrs when you finger the petals.
Powers or Strengths:
Narn was one of the few born with magical abilities, he excells specifically at levitating items. This he practice quietly when noone is around. After long hours of lifting and moving forks and knives around, he now eats his dinners without moving his arms when alone. After further hours of practice, he now swings his katana around like a real swordsman without lifting a finger. He has now moved on to swinging around the buster sword. He also has some ability manipulating plant growth, his best controlled achievement blooming five roses. Earlier attempts to force full bloom on 5 roses he found near shim, resultet in 4 rotten roses and a rose-kitten.
His strengths are his physical strength and agility. He's thus a natural at swords, but cannot measure up to the professionals. He is still practicing swords a couple of hours a day though.
As previously mentioned, he has three magical items and a half-rose half-kitten, but his black shirt is also a piece of magic.:
His magicians cape will randomly levitate the wearer ten feet above the ground, and leave them there as it itself falls to the ground. This only happens outdoors, it knows if you're out or indoors. Narn was fortunately alone when he first learned the capes ability. To get down, he had to levitate a plank up, step on it, and levitate it down again. He could not move around in this levitated state, which was not dispanded untill the plank tuched his feet. Narn found this artifact when he was walking around the historical district, it suddenly fell on top of him, at the time he didn't try looking up because he was sure it was just the wind that blew it on him.
His tophat resents beeing put on manually. He could only ever get it on by throwing it into the air and landing it perfectly on his head. He later found out this was because it refused beeing touched by two different pieces of biological material at the same time, counting all the fingers and the palm on one hand/glove as one piece. When he tried, the second piece would get pushed away (regardless if there are obstacles). If not for the illegality of magic, Narn would have attempted proping people with the hat. it also appears to have a mind of it's own and levitational abilities, for he had found it when it flew out a window in the residential district grumbling about "Illegal magic? what the ??". When he snagged it, it instantly ceased grumbling and has never done so in his presence again. But Narn is the only one who knows the truth behind local rumors of the ruined tower beeing haunted.
The dagger then again loves beeing handled. you have to use magic (specifically levitation) to get it out of your hands. It appears to need sharpening. But whenever it touches an object it channels your full magical abilities related to the object into the object. A levitation magician like Narn thus sends anything he touches flying. He had found it in what seemed to be some other guys hidden stash in the ruined tower.
The black shirt is what keeps his clothes clean and his hygiene good. Simply because the shirt hates dirt. It cleanses anything the wearer is in direct contact with of all forms of dirt when the wearer is asleep. He has holes in his socks to ensure clean shoes. His clothes always beeing clean every morning somehow always raises praise, never suspicion.
Weaknesses:
Always a bit worried and nervous, mainly because of his magical abilities which he fears he'll expose if he's not carefull. Though by beeing "carefull" he does not include lifting womens skirts, which he is sure will be the end of him. He is rash in his decicions, hungrier than most and his reflexes could well be better. His black shirt also makes him wary of entering combat, should he be knocked unconcious the shirt would give him away in a matter of seconds. Not the very brightest bird in the pack either.
History:
Born the 17th of May 140 PW. His father began gambling when he realised his life as a swordsman was over, forever stuck at home with a wife and child. Gathering up gambling depts, he could eventually no longer hold off paying up. Challenged to a sword duel by an angry creditor on the 5th of June 139 PW, had become too weak to weild his sword and was killed. Leaving his wife and child with absolutely nothing, the creditors at least had mercy enough not to transfer his depts to them. On the 6th of June 126 PW a 14 year old Narn was left alone as cancer took his mother. The authorities was kind enough to give him a house in the residental district in exchange for the house he had lived in.
Narn was left with little choice but to find a job, a carrier boy became his best option. Carrying heavier and heavier things as time went, his muscles rapidly becoming similar to that of a blacksmith. Yet he still yearned for lighter things to carry, the job wore him out completely, nothing to do on his spare time but rest. On the 17th of May 124 PW his wish was suddenly granted. He picked up crates, felt the weight, wished for lighter, and just like that he might as well be carrying feathers. Took him a day or two to figure it was magic though, and afraid his boss might have taken notice he did his best to stop doing it immidiately. But it wasn't easy, no man can controll what he wishes. Thus he had found something to do on his spare time, he was also not so exhausted, and so began practicing this magic at home.
after gruelling months, he had achieved some controll over his magic. He used this, and made his work only half as tiring. Now that he could do more than rest after work, he began exploring the possibilities of Thar Shaddin. Brought his katana and signed up for sword practice at the fighters guild and explored the town. He considered using his fathers sword instead of the katana, but thought it would be too suspect for a mere carrier boy to weild such a thing with ease. Even for the natural the guild members claimed he was.
One day, walking home from sword practice, right after passing the school. A strange event occured. A tophat blew out of a window in the next building he passed after the school. It quickly seemed it had new blown out the window at all though, as it was flapping its brims violently and muttering about "Illegal magic, what?! why should magic be illegal?!?". Narn snagged it out of the air as it passed above his head, it instantly stopped muttering and flapping its brim. "What a strange hat, tophat even" he thought, and tried to put it on. His neck almost broke. Not from the weight, but it simply just resented his head. He decided to take it home, after all he did love magic. As he strolled though, perplexed as to why every time he shifted the arm carrying the hat back and forward he nearly tripped. Further studying the hat, he figured it just resented being touched by two pieces of organic material at the same time, counting all the fingers on one hand/glove as one piece.
After a very risky visit by a guard, who was luckily wearing metallic gauntles and helmets, he decided he had to hide the hat. In his earlier roaming, he had found a nice hiding place in the ruined tower of the historical district. There was obviously a hole in the wall, but the hole was hollowed out upwards letting him levitate it where few other hands could reach. Looking around the tower after hiding the hat, he discovered a similar hole, hollowed downwards. Someone had already used it for a hiding place, he saw something shine down there. He levitated it up and had alreayd grabbed it when he saw it was a dagger. He tried to put it down so he could levitate something else up, but it wouldn't leave his hand until he levitated it out of it. The only other thing down there was potatoes. The dagger looked rather unsharp though, he took it to the smith to sharpen it on the sharpening wheel himself. Despite how imbossible it should be the wheel caught fire the moment the dagger touched it, leaving him no choice but to sneak off to avoid getting caught.
On his way back to the tower, anotehr weirdass thing happened. A cloak blew straight on him. It's shiny green colours, with a balck ring with a black fire in its middle mark, and equipped it right away. He was almost back to the tower when he found himself ten feets in the air and the cloak faling to the ground. He could not move, a shred, and glad noone was around he levitated a broken off plank from the nearby ruined buildings and brought himself down on it. Then he could move again. He put on the cloak again and walked around untill it happened again, to study it further. He figured it happened at random intervals between ten seconds and ten minutes.
Back at the tower, he tried to levitate the potatoes to his hideout to remove traces of a visit to the other hideout, but all that did was set out sproutlings from them. He tried again and the sproutlings turned into healthy potatoes. Another try and all except one burned to crisp, the last turned into a freaking huge cockroach with potatoes for eyes. In fear he stabbed it with the dagger, and realised just how handy the dagger was. At contact the cockroach instanly turned into a full out boulder sized potato. A bit carefull he tried to poke the potato with the dagger, and new sproutlings burst out of it. Poking it again they all turned into boulder sized potatoes. He didn't dare poke any of them again, instead he set fire to them and ran, the place was made of stone after all, it shouldn't burn down.
The day after, the talk of the town was who had set fire to six boulder potatoes at the ruined tower. As it faded and less people came to the ruins to see the remains, he dared himself back to fetch the dagger again. He had thought out what might have been the deal. And quite correctly, when he probed a normal boulder with it, it sprung into the air. The dagger was a magic channel! It punched the full abilities of his magic into whatever it touched. After experimenting on more plants, he realised he indeed had abilities withing enchanting plant growth. Though results had proven to be unstable when living creatures bigger than spiders were near the plants. He would never forget the mega rat with grass for hair. Later he had made a faithfull pet this way too, a cute rose-cat. Roots for legs and no eyes, it was a sensible plant with fur and a rose petals mane. He planted it in a hard to come by place near shim and named it "Miu".
For the next year and a half, untill his 18th birthday. He tried to live life as normally as possible. 'Cept the case of the mysterious seventeenth birthday from "an anonymous nobody", a black shirt that would clean anything the wearer touches while asleep. Thus he spendt his time making sure Miu was all right and growing well. Passing the cat a family at Shim was missing off as a coincidence. Practicing swordsmanshit. Perfecting his levitation and plant growth skills. The day finally came, he turned 18 and was finally free from minority bounds. His goal was sett, join the guards, and eventually become a battlemage to be free to practice his magic. Though his lack of money for schooling during his childhood would prove to be a real hinderance.
(hope i didn't miss anything or repeated things unneccesarily. And those birth and death dates aren't coincidental.)
