The thing about drinks dehydrating you is an urban legend. Alcohol and caffine on their own would dehydrate you, but the amount of water in the drink - even in spirits - causes your body to at least break even on water going in and water going out. So, tea, coffee, coke and most alcoholic drinks do hydrate you. Spirits don't make a lot of difference.

But Christopher Marlowe, another playwright living around the same time, is generally recognised by academics to have been, in terms of awesomeness, the veritable Chuck Norris of his generation. We are talking bisexual, religious renegade, spy, forger, crook, bar-room brawler with conspiracy theories surrounding his death here. Oh, and he died of getting a knife in his eye. That's pretty cool.

That's not quite true, and you'll never convince a beer drinker of that.

Beer is what's known as a diuretic. Even though it might immediately hydrate you quite well, it makes you pee. A lot. Too much. Some doctors even prescribe beer as a way of flushing the system. Believe me, it dehydrates you, and if you go to a bar with my friends and I, and drink 5 pints... You will pee. Constantly. And if you don't drink some water you will probably have a hangover.

i have one that my Anthropology professor told us about during one of her many random stories about her work in Costa Rica. Apparently down there they have several species of ant. One of them, the army ant, travels in such a large group that they are as far as the eye can see and cover the entire forest floor. There are so many, in fact, that she said they sound kind of like rain falling on dry leaves. They'll also attack you if you get in their way. Only problem is, by the time you've figured out what that weird sound was there is no escape route left. So basically you have to run like hell and squash as many of the buggars as you can while trying to wipe them off of you.

Sounds like fun, doesn't it?

Or, you could do like me, and not hang around in rainforests with creepy lil monsters like that. Jenica aside that is. lol
