@Saruna: If luck lets me catch you online at some point to allow us to brainstorm together, there are certainly possibilities for a vodyanoy equivalent in an oceanic+asiatic setting - as well as possible hooks with regards to pirate RP.
@Jerial: Once Jīnwū's application is up and approved, (hopefully by next weekend) I plan to start a plot discussion thread for the piratical shenanigans. However, if I catch you online before that point, I'm more than happy to collaborate aspects of character creation

While you're here. . .have a preference for the date? I think monsoons still happen, and since it's not monsooning how about january-ish 122 or maybe summer 122?

Sure. A monsoon would be great, because Shiv would blame her for the bad luck.
He's going to blame everything bad luck on her.

For reference:
Independent pirate ship that is on the run from the main empire fleet. Their medic/healer has been killed, they're in big trouble, and so they attack a smaller merchant ship (shiv & kuyeix's) ship.
It's possible that in order to keep control of shiv, kuyeix will undergo pirate marriage to stick around. or something. Who knows?

So there's my introduction. Are you guys intending to win or lose?
Also, you mentioned that they have no healer, but they do have the basilard. It would be reasonable to assume that the captain has been converting people as is useful. For example, the lookout might have a raven's eye hidden under an eye patch or something.
Anyways. I can edit whatever if I did anything stupid, which is very probable since I understand niether Asia nor boarding tactics all that well ;_;
