Okay. Now I'm doing a little research to brush up on types of ships common in that time (I'm going with mid-late medieval ages) as Ko would be quite familiar with them. I don't think we've discussed what type of ship they're on, other than that it's a merchant vessel.

Another option might be the cog, but I feel that might be a bit too basic and small for the Corezans. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cog_%28ship%29

I'm really going for the caravel though. This would give them more incentive for deeper trades with the southern half of Eyropa, seeing as how they'd have to cross open water to get there. I don't think the cog would be able to easily make that trip.

The last option, of course, would be the carrack. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrack But I think maybe that ship is still in sort of the development phase? I figure there hasn't been forays over to Ayana yet, so this one isn't yet fully developed. I don't think they're even near the galleon yet, hence why I didn't mention that one. >>

Of course, we can always come up with our own, but I thought it best to first get an understanding of how it happened (and the reasons why) in actual history before we go off into imaginationland. And I need to do more research in any case, but I wanted to get your impressions before I really get set into a favorite.

hehehe, yes! Okay anyway we talked about it in chat but if anybody else reads this I want to clear up, ships do cross from Eyropa to Ayana and back. Darleone even sends ships out to all corners of the world for trade. Though I can only imagine that traveling across the world by ship is rather dangerous and probably somewhat expensive if you are not working on the ship, there are still people that do travel by ship.

There appear to be two foremasts, that or the jigger is fore instead of aft. I'm going to have to read more since I am not trusting wikipedia at the moment.

What do we do now?

I'm all for fast forwarding a few days, maybe having a pirate attack. That could be cool as it opens up all kinds of areas for character exploration, especially if Ceallach just snaps and massacres a bunch of the enemy right as everyone is finally just starting to get (somewhat) comfortable with him.

Or if (gasp) Zain actually kills somebody. But that should probably wait until later. But it does offer some juicy ideas for inner turmoil.

Just throwing around some ideas. What do you guys think?
