I've been browsing a couple of threads but I don't have anything specific on my mind. I would like to make an easy, small start so I actually prefer to play some temporarily role in an already existing thread.
Maybe I'll just pick the story I like the most and PM the players.

I would pick one and PM them. The only reason I can see anyone saying no is that they'd be afraid you would slow the thread down, but if you check regularly there aren't many people here who would say no to the prospect.
